StevePl4y5 wrote:Just a few vehicle names usually used to call them out that new players might not know (mostly air vehicles, since ground vehicles are usually called out by their class):

Havoc - Mil Mi-28, Russian Attack Helicopter (CAS), sometimes also called Hind (for some reason).

It's called hind when it's a mil Mi-24 Hind, Russia has two CAS choppers, Havok and Hind

Cobra - AH-1Z Viper, USMC Attack Helicoter, never called by its actual name "Viper", but rather the name of its predecessor, the AH-1 Cobra.

Huey - UH-1N Twin Rotor/Iroquois, mainly known as the USMC transport helicopter (also used by the Canadian and German faction as a light trans chopper), the nickname comes from the english pronuntiation of the first leters "UH".

Osprey - V-22 Osprey, USMC vertical take off and landing transport plane (the only transport plane in the game), also known by players as "a ***** to fly" or the "it's gonna crash, take cover". It's easily identifiable by its huge size and unconventional shape.

Chinook - CH 47, the British heavy transport helicopter (also used by the French, and the Canadians???), possibly the largest helicopter in the game.

Used by the french as a placeholder for the Puma or Caracal, also used by the US army

Lynx - Westland Lynx, British light transport chopper.

COW - Mil Mi-8, russian heavy transport helicopter, I don't know why they call it Cow, but they do.

called cow because it's big, fat and slow

Batmobile - Chinese armoured car with remote controlled turret, fearsome little thing.

CROW - Humvee mounted with a remote controlled turret.
There, just a few precisions.

We can add :

Gary - Insurgent suicide Garbage truck mounted with a JDAM bomb.

Big Red - Insurgent suicide big red truck mounted with a JDAM bomb

Namer - IDF APC with the hull of a merkava

Thanks for the small corrections. For some reason I don't remember ever seeing the Hind ingame (probably because I generally try to hide under tries when I hear one, lol). But in many ocasions I've seen people call the Havoc a "Hind".

Also never seen a chinook on a US Army map.

And about the Cow, I prefer to call my Mi-8 "Fat Lover", I rarely crash or get shot down when flying that helicopter, it's just able to take so much beating and keep flying.

Surprised I didn't see this already, getting asked that often by new players:

CO: Commander
SL: Sqaud Leader
SM: Squad Member
AR: Automatic Rifleman = light machingunner (MG4, RPK, M249)
LAT: Light Anti Tank = standart rocketlauncher (RPG-7, AT-4)
HAT: Heavy Anti Tank = Big rocketlauncher, sometimes guided (ERYX, Tandem RPG-7)

IFV: Infantry Fighting Vehicle = Big APC, most of the time tracked with big guns and often
guided missles (Bradly, BMP)

360 (protection): order from the SL to cover every direction while stationary

tracked : critical damage on a armored vehicle meaning its unable to move (and/or turret not moveable)

Weapons Green
Until further order you are clear to fire to any enemy that you see.

Weapons Yellow/Orange
Until further order if you spot an enemy you need to report it but hold your fire. You should only use your weapon if your in imminent danger.
This order is useful to maintain a low profile in a rather vulnerable area.

Suppressive fire
The act of firing without the direct intention to kill, just degrade the enemy performance. This means that you don't need to see the target.
By maintaining a constant rate of fire you can keep the enemy suppressed, allowing your team members to move.

Also: Keypad: Keypads are the smaller, more accurate coordenates inside a grid, their numbers can be seen in the top left of the map, in the A-1 grid, or you can just look down at your keyboard and see the sequence of the numbers in your numpad because it's exactly the same.
Wait wut, the keypads are like your keyboard so a grid is:
789
456
123

Instead of what I always thought:
123
456
789

??? If so I have always done it wrong..
Please confirm or what the real standards are

Check it for yourself:

Look at A-1.

Also, another one I'm surpised nobody mentioned yet (I think).

Logi - Logistics, usually refering to the Logistics Truck, the truck that can drop supply crates, deployable bridges and repair stations.

Look at the positive side. Everytime the keypad was 4, 5 or 6, you said it right. =)

Well, I just always say Trans Truck, or simply Truck. Nothing special.

Logistics are "Logi's"; therefore Transport trucks are "Trannies".

It's going to be a thing!

Cheers, Murkey.

Line formation:
Every squad member stand next to each other from W to E, when heading N. Good for clearing areas.

Column formation:
Every squad member stand behind one another from N to S, when heading N. Good for stealth and avoiding mines.

Seems like there's always one person in the squad who confuses the two.

RAWSwampFox wrote:APC - This is hotly contested and it depends on the server or server admin as to what these include. Normally these include any vehicle that has a gun that is mainly used for infantry support and transports players. This may or may not include the BTR, LAV, Bradley, IFV, AAV, Beast, BRDM, or any other tin can with a gun.
This is the worst definition I have ever heard :D

Good Evening,

I guess APC could be just called any tin can with a pea shooter. Sheesh, I say it's not an exact science and I am still getting beat up. :P

Good Evening,

I like to refer to Logistic trucks as the Red Ball Express in honor of the WWII guys that ran round the clock delivering supplies to Allied troops in northern Europe after D-Day.

Nah it was called a Huey because the original designation was HU-1 no UH-1, and the maker was Bell not Hughes. You may have been confused by the fact that Hughes made the oh-6 "Loach" which is another Vietnam era helicopter.
