I can't wait to land a chopper on one!
Infantry have legs, and soldiers are trained to use the hell out of them IRL. Walking 300m aint nothin' if it means you actually getting to your objective without wasting time, assets, tickets and patience.
Landing on objectives is seldom worth it, unless you have substantial planning and resources available to attempt an assault on a building/position.

If you all want to embrace the reality of combat then don't complain when things go other than expected(combat rarely goes as planned). Sometime's it's just not a smart choice for a pilot to take you where you want to go. Sometime's you'll get an exceptionally skilled pilot gung ho on risk taking and he'll successfully get you there...great in that case...more power to ya'll but you won't find that's the case with most pilots so don't expect it as the norm. As infantryman ya'll are there to take the shit end of the stick and ask for more...embrace the role. Would you rather have to walk an additional 400m to objective and save tickets or lose potentially 26 tickets being a rambo badass and flying into hot area's? Illogical ones are free not to reply to that.
Pilots have rights to DENY the request if dangers are known.
- Even If you accept it tell the squad leader that you may not drop them right into the place due to the dangers. But without asking for the squad leader's opinion and accepting the mission you have no choice but keep your promises. You may save yourself from that apc with your speed but you may put them in a dangerous situation after forcing them to drop. And when you are the trans guy most of the squad leaders and members will be forced to bail out of your chopper without questioning or thinking about it.
So here is my procedure to be a transport chopper:
- Check the lz place from map. If it's very dangerous to go there no matter what. Deny it or tell him to change it to different "safe" position.
- If it's dangerous but still high chance to complete. Tell them that you may not land right lz point but i.e 50m south of it etc etc. If they accepts "fly", if not "deny"
- When unexpected dangerous situation (spotted apc, aa, hot lz) return to a safe place and altitude and give a breath second to sq leader re-arrange lz point.
- If they keep supressing me to land. Land the safest point.
But still I do not think it's the ultimate right to choose LZ point without any warnings. Or you may put the squad in a dangerous situations. Do you know why? For example:
You accepted the danger and went to an LZ, you saw an apc and made a maneveur to a place where you think you are safe for 5 or 10 seconds before that apc comes. You force the people out like "Okay gogogogogogo" then they bailed out. You fleed away. But the problem is you accepted to go dangerous place then you forfeited and put them in danger where they cannot save themselves but you saved your *ss. No one will blame you because you have ultimate right over Lz points...
Nope, just nope. You have only ultimate right to deny or RTB right until something rational comes from sq leader.
Edit: Also if you have lack of skill to accomplish a mission. Just don't be afraid to tell it. Moving area and doing different thing than what you being asked is just annoys the squad leader with your "ultimate right"
