Re: Australian Server?
I play on US servers from Japan and get a ping of 150-250 and the game is perfectly playabe. If you play smart you can still get a really good KD with high ping. And when I play there are usually over 200 players on, which is clearly more than enough.
If you're so bitter about this game and think it's dead then why are you even on these forums? Let me guess. It's because you get satisfaction from bitching at people. Just be thankful the community is so tolerable and allows you to vent here.

Don't be surprised if there's a small number of curious players wanting to try the mod out like me. I was reminded of this mod when I read about Squad.

Many people from China(2-300ms ping) play on US servers too.RollingInTheHurt wrote:Thank you, finally someone with some balls...
I particularly like the posts from EU players and US players saying the game is not dead, the same people who can't handle playing on a server with more than 3ms ping yet think its perfectly fine for everyone else to play on 250ms US and 350ms EU servers but still cant understand their frustration...
Problem?
It does not take 100ms> to lase a target or place a marker, or use mortar, or blow up a fob with bombcar...etc.

Re: Australian Server?
Once again, RollingInTheHurt, since you're ignoring the question: The PR development team does not host game servers for the community, it never did.
Game servers are hosted and paid for by clans and communities. There are active communities in Europe and North America that host their own game servers to play on.
Australia region does not currently have a game server simply because the Australian playerbase is too small to form a community and pay for / host a game server for themselves. There once was an Australian game server and community (BigD), but the PR development team did not shut it down or "turn its back on it". BigD closed down because the community in Australia got smaller.
If you want an Australian game server, you need to get the old Australian PR players back to the mod or recruit new ones, start a community and apply for a server license, host a game server and play on it.
European / North American communities are not going to host a game server in Australia for understandable reasons.

Re: Australian Server?
Look, even when BigD was up, a lot of Australian players played USE anyway. BigD was clique-y and never had as good a server culture as most US servers. By the time BigD shut down, you'd often see 20-30 Australians in a US server rather than seeding an Australian server.
It's absolutely not the Dev's fault, but it's a more complex issue than the community just getting smaller and its Australian component naturally falling below the critical mass needed for a viable community. What this thread is really about is that no US servers cater to Australians anymore, which I also accept without a grudge.
Not everyone lives in an east coast city. I'm posted to Darwin at the moment for example. USW or EU just isn't a real option. I shudder and teleport around the map, get shot well after taking cover, can't fire on moving targets, exit helicopters that are stationary for me but are moving server side and kill me. My lazes are even less reliable than usual, logi trucks veer off the road and flip in a spike, AA missiles veer off into flares I haven't seen yet.
Yeh, I could go and sit in a mortar. I'll relabel my PR launcher Mortar Simulator 2003, and forget why I still have PR on my computer. That's sure to lead to some great nights of PR.
Don't be so condescending. Yeh it sucks. No, no one can fix it. Telling this dude to "get the band back together" is stupid and condescending. We're a country with less than 1/15th the population of America and lower IT penetration than almost any developed country. We're not about to have a PR renaissance and repopulate an Australian server, then win PRTA. It sucks, get over it, it's dead for us. Commiserate, but don't insult our intelligence.

Re: Australian Server?
The only thing I get upset about, was the joy of the US LA server is now seemingly in competition with another and the ping is much higher for Pacific players.
If the LA server isn't up I don't play.
