Very much true. Defending the bridge is *so* much easier with a scoped rifle.
'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino']hehe, we did test this acturley in the test server has the results are excatly what i thought. the tank drivers got so pissed of about it basicly being impossible to drive though the jungle they soon dumped the tank and went on foot
Yeah, I can't see it working very well with OGT, not much room for tanks to maneuver.. was thinking of something more like Steel Thunder, where you have some roads and open fields for tanks to navigate on while still having vast areas of jungle that tanks just can't negotiate, allowing infantry to bypass armor, ambush it, etc. Armor would be very strong and useful in a defensive and supporting role, but unable to bear the brunt of the assault through the jungle. I think it could make for some interesting gameplay..

I think most people dislike OGT because out of all the maps, it takes the most coordination between squads (as in whose defending and whose attacking) and most PR servers dont have that level of communication.

Well, generally if there isn't one, I'll be the hanging-back-and-staying-alive squad leader, and it's so effective the other squads will take notice and agree to do some defending. In fact, because so few people will use that tactic (of making sure the SL hangs back and provides a spawn point) I have yet to lose a single round of OGT.
I really agree with whomever it was that said jungle maps (but not OGT.... it's really not a jungle map) should have DMRs. In fact, just about all the maps should have DMRs as well as sniper rifles. But if that's not going to happen, then a lot of the maps with sniper rifles should have DMRs instead. Like EJOD, for instance.
As for the disconnect between AK and Brit rifle, I just pick up the rifles from the British corpses. Problem solved.
Finally, re: street. Insurgents can definately win. It's just that the average PR player is a whore. If you've got a really good commander and people follow his orders, insurgents can win. You just have to hide out in the buildings and take up good positions. You have to maintain a killer K/D ratio across your team by using the kinds of tactics ACTUAL insurgents would use. IEDs, ambushes, that kind of thing. The Brits won't hang back and ignore the pilot kit if you let them through, maybe harrassing them from behind to keep pushing them forward.
Somebody should really make a quick notice to insurgents on how to play that map, and then have it put on the map briefing screen.

It's a forest, not a jungle. Mao Valley and the late Jungle Fever are jungle maps. In those maps a sniper rifle is pretty pointless, unless you want to be exposed on a mountain top.

I LOVE jungle maps. EJOD is a nice map but it's now boring in my opinion. That and it's played constantly that I got sick of it.

Of course you can get bamboo in a forest.
A jungle is defined as
Land densely overgrown with tropical vegetation.
OGT is not dense enough, nor does it seem tropical.

Jungle= Humidity mainly. Marshy land. Tropical creatures(for PR jsut sound effects will do). possibley steamy. abandoned overgrown sites. Brigh colours and light green.
Forest= Pine trees. fresh smell. Cool tmeperature. slightly foggy. critters. wooden cabins. regularly used footpaths. mellow colours and Dark green.
Well, thats me anyway.

Yeah, ace. a little less lag would be nice.
I like defending from the bunkers, shooting despirately, telling the guy behinde me to go on without me and get rienforcments, while i hold the fort or die honorably in the process.
On the other hand, clearing bunkers as a close unit, poping frags and smoke and china men(no offense). Long range snipping with L96. Using the Graphook. Nikov's gineus secrets of the level.
hey, does anyone ever get that problem on Mao where Birds continiously fly away from you for about a minute, like a flock every 3seconds? some kinda bug.
...mongol...

no bamboo in a forest???????
how many forests you been in outside of Engliand there rhino man...hehe...
plenty of bamboo in the forests...not jungles at all... lots of diff kinds of bamboo mind you... one type called "sasa" in japanese... is so thick you cant move one meter forward through it...ive tried!! its not tall but extremely dense..the only way to move through it is to try to plow yourself over it...and it scratches/cuts etc...
i think this type is also common in other parts of asia...
here are some pics to compare...
bamboo forest (grows very tall...about 10meters or more)
this is sasa (grows about 3 meters tall)
