I think that pistols were modified in the last patch, yesterday I took out 3 people in a row with an M9 without reloading, and I'm fairly sure they weren't hurt.

The IEDjust blows everyone up in one "shot" so thats not even comparable.

The ba's are basically single shots, giving them the chance to shoot back, you can hide and pop up and take shots, but they are not a stand and fight system against a whole squad.
Pistol does not kill in one hit and it only holds 7 round.

Rapid fire? Then you only kill about 3 people, because you almost had to reload after a kill.

IF they stop and start spraying into bushes, you have two grenades with the boltaction rifle(when I used sapper, I substituted it with IED).

I don't think you know how stalking in grassfields work.

You are supposed to relocate after every shot; using concealment to force an one-on-one(and most likely very one-sided due to enemy not looking at you) engagement in which you kill the enemy in one shot, then grenade them when they revive.
That's what makes Bolt-action rifles so much better; because they don't hear you sitting there spamming the trigger hoping for kill, they hear one shot and someone's cry for medic.


Pistols didn't make bolt-action rifles obsolete.

Bolt-Action rifles truly became "obsolete" around the time of assault rifles.
Even then, they had their use.

Actually it was the M1 Garand.

BTW, the bolt actions don't get 1 shot kills 100% of the time anyway.
Getting up to someone's face or melee range is an easy way to get spotted in general because of a thing called mumble.

I do it all the time against real players(as long as they walk in/near grassfields in Fallujah...etc.) because they can't see me in the taller grasses; and don't notice me when I aim/shoot them unless they are looking for me(which they don't know until I fire). I WAS invisible for the most part because of how PR grass works(or rather, not work).

Maybe I don't always kill a full squad; but I always down enough of them to keep them reviving/healing for many more minutes. The point is that bolt-action is very good(that's its niche in this game) for that, which is limiting engagement to 1v1 and giving self time to rechamber, in general; you cannot argue with facts.

Maybe if you play more; you will know how to do it too. Against "real players" you can't get out of base alive all the time either.

Go take a SKS and 1911 and tell me 1911 does just as well; you would be lying.
It's completely bullshit because 1911 needs significant holdover(to the point where you can't even see what you are aiming at) to hit anything near/beyond its realistic range. Headshotting headglitchers and jack-in-the-boxes at beyond 50m(yes, you sometimes have to fire rifles at beyond 50m) in-game with pistols is more due to luck than "skill."

According to your logic, bolt-action rifles and M1 garand were all made obsolete by Fedorov Avtomat(which means M1 Garand became obsolete before it went into service).
It wasn't the M1 Garand that was the first semiauto rifle to be adopted by a major world power either...
Does "Fusil Automatique Modele 1917" ring a bell? They went back to bolt-action MAS later...how obsolete, eh?

Bolt action rifles in-game does kill in one hit(if not immediately, they are black and white which == combat-ineffective and bleedout very soon) if you aim correctly.

It was a tiny zoom that didn't even help. It just looked a bit stupid and unrealistic.

Good thing we buffed the ak74 so you can go back to that now! :mrgreen:

EDIT: it's a joke^ lets not get into a long discussion about the ak74 recoil on this thread :D

It was a tiny zoom that really did help at realistic ranges IRL for bolt action rifles.

It was, at long range, the difference between 2 pixels and 3.

If PR wanted to promote/enforce realistic behaviour(such as taking a bolt action rifle for longer range), the zoom was perfect for it.

AK-74 problem(same problem with many other 600rpm weapons) wasn't really solved; put 0 recoil on paper and it will still go all over the place due to animation.

So AK horizontal recoil stat is has been greatly(unrealistically) increased at v1.0?

I dont know what got changed at 1.0 as i wasnt in the team back then. What i do know is that there is no real problem with the AK recoil. The only real issue were the firing animations of the scoped AK74M and those got fixed with 1.3. I play almost daily and i hear just as many complains about AKs being "OP PLX NERF" as for any other weapon.
