And where are the crates that reload my mortars in battlefailed 4 automaticly? comrade plsss... when you answer bullshit instead of some valid points dont be suprised if others do it too.
Anyway mortars are not that interesting job, but this thread shows that there are some people who like to do it, and there is not much i can think of to getting mortars that more interesting without to distort the balance.

You pretend to drop ammobox on it as Support.
Having a mortar that rearms itself in the field while you run around like headless chicken belongs to battlefailed 4.
Just because you don't know what I'm talking about that does not mean it's bullshit, it just means you don't know...
Mortar is fineļ¼ again, if you find rearming mortar by ammobag too difficult, don't shoot so many rounds and/or rebuild mortar.
It's the smaller details like rearming deployables with ammobag that makes PR fun to play.
Making mortar effortless to play is not the way to go.

Comrade, what server were you playing on when you set up a mortar at the castle on Archer? I was wondering how you kept the mortars resupplied because on some servers you're not allowed to rebuilt assets for the purpose of reloading them. I think may be a kickable or maybe banable offense on FCV and HOG. It makes running insurgent mortars a pain on some maps.

I forgot which server it was.
It's not like you can't just drive a ammo truck up to castle.

I would enjoy mortar work, if the ammo would feed from a crate not far away, I actually load the each round, and I could take turns with someone doing the spotting. That mortars become a secondary objective to defend sounds pretty good as well.

It's incredibly boring to be in a mortar team. The only time I play with people who do is as a last ditch effort on maps where we have lost all beachheads and such.
I do enjoy sniping *at* mortar teams tho.

I like that deployables need ammobags to use.
Makes rifleman even more useful.

I often play mortars and I don't find it boring. I think if people don't like it, it's because you're not shooting, there is no real action.
Also, 1 week ago, on Lashkar Valley, someone in Insurgent switched to Blufor to spot our mortar squad.

Well I'm a trained mortar SL irl and I'll tell you, it isn't even that exciting firing a real mortar

Don't feel too bad, my buddy is a captain for a Paladin battery. He says ordering those to fire is pretty damn boring too.
On topic: used a mortar for the first time last night on Saaremaa to defend supply depot. We were less than 400 meters from the flag and completely blunted a squad's effort to reinforce the enemy attack. We won that round by 40 tickets, everyone said the mortars made that possible.

Mortars are a huge part of the game. I love playing them especially if it is a close round. Kokan Mortar squad FTW. Find a closed up compound... build mortars... get killed by Gary... rebuild... oh the fun!
Also mortars are perfect if your eating dinner or something. It only requires one hand to operate them

I've had fun leading mortar squads tonight. It gets hectic with resupply and posting security. Now I just need to learn which maps benefit most from mortars.

Any insurgency map lol. But all maps pretty much. 4km is a bit harder for range wide though.

Mortars as insurgency... I'll have to try that. Sounds better than the usual charlie foxtrot that is most insurgency rounds. Also I could be misremembering but I tried to place mortars on Fallujah once but it said my side didn't have access to them.
Edit: Does anyone know if PR models the ballistic arc of mortar shells?
Also, what is your preferred composition of a mortar squad?

Yeah the devs iirc made it only mortars on 2km+maps. Since mortars could reach literally anywhere on 1km maps.

That makes sense. Mortars for insurgency are a little stupid in my opinion. Since insurgent factions don't have logi for supply crates you are forced to put mortars next to a cache or at the main base either almost guaranteeing they will be found and destroyed or out of range of good portions of the map.

Well the insurgents have the white ammo technical that is way faster and a much lower profile than the logistics trucks. Also, having your mortars by the cache means that at the very least, the cache has 3+ defending it (whereas sometimes that number is 0)

Oh yeah, very good point. I must have forgotten that since most morons use it as transport and leave it somewhere to get destroyed. Also, I wish I could get a mortar squad to pull security. Most people just aren't that interested in defending something important.
