Looks good I guess, though I have never worked with Blender in my life so hence I am not sure how the smoothing will be after exporting it to 3ds max 9.

Also, some wire frames are good to give feedback on the model.

Smoothing needs a lot more work, and also more chamfering to make it look good. It would be good if you would spend all the tri's you remove by optimizing the model on improving the smoothing.

First of all, again, I have no experience with Blender so I don't know how smoothing will look once this model is ported into 3ds max 9.

The general shape looks good. You should assign proper smoothing groups first now. (see Mineral his post on page 1) After you have assigned the smoothing groups properly the model will look 10 times better. Then after you have done that you can look into adding extra faces to improve smoothing. Also, baking normal maps would be a really good thing to do for this weapon.
