Tris cont increased to 5745 from 4681.
Made a detachable telescopic sight,costing about 840 tris and its mount,costing about roughly about 100~200 tris.

Not sure how the usage of the scope will end up being like, but do remember that we use 3D scopes in all our 1P models, that said I don't know how it will be used so might not be needed here to make it fully 3D on the inside or just use reflective textures on both sides.

Do it like the M20 (usat_m20) does it. Basically do what you have now just with inside and glass on the ends (would make them not completely flat) and then another separate close up version with the reticle and all in it.

Tris increased from 5745 to 5991 overall,scope tris increased from 840 to 1086.
To [R-DEV]Mats391:Made the scope 3D,hope this is what you meant and about other close up version with reticle, i don't know how to make a reticle inside the scope,i thought it to be a texturing part.
To [R-DEV]Mineral:I made the telescopic scope system separate,so there could be the provision of using the backup bore sights like we use on American SMAW.

That looks real nice!

For the reticle there are different approaches you can choose:
1.) Compare to the M20 again. There all lines and numbers are modeled and get simply a black texture

2.) Compare to RPG-7 scope. There you have the reticle blocked out with triangles and rest is done with transparent texture

3.) You make one flat surface and do entire reticle through texture with lots of alpha

Number 3.) is the easiest to do, but also the least optimized. It would require big texture with alpha channel to get good quality of the reticle which takes up quite some space.
Could only find picture of the reticle from Operation Flashpoint, not sure how accurate that is:

For this I would use same way RPG does it and simply make rectangles for all the lines and then have small texture to do rest

To Mj Pain:Fixed the sight (broadened the front part of the telescopic sight as in the document.And making the graticule as in the doc, but what's the validity that the sight picture in the document is for the M2 scope and not for the M3?

Great job so far.
Can not wait to have this ingame!

I have only used the Swedish GRG M48 and its sights looks like the one i posted.
Perhaps the M2 uses a different one.

Tris count is now 7711,previously it was 5991 since there's a duplicate scope and graticule,although it would be stripped of any excess outer geometries to save tris.
Made the separate scope version.

So you modelled the reticle like on the M20? Looks really good. Nice to see that you created this with moving parts in mind :)
Rhino is on vacation, lets wrap this up before he comes back and starts nitpicking again :p

[R-DEV]Mats391: Thanks!,yes i modelled with planes(actually modelled boxes then got rid of one dimension) Attached all the planes,so now they all are now in a single plane.Then i placed that plane inside the scope.Yes Rhino told me to model with moving parts and yes, lets wrap this up before he comes back.Have to model the projectiles too and, what other moving parts would this need?
like there's a cocking handle behind the trigger :D .

Also i modelled the sight by appling that picture in the doc to a plane and uniformly scaled the picture to fit the scope.

To Mj Pain:Thanks man,i decided to go with the previous sight picture,as it was confusing.

Anything that won't be visible (like a cocking handle on the otherside of the weapon) could only be seen in 3P, so if it's too small of a detail wouldn't matter all that much. Then again it's not a particularly hard part to animate, so as close as you get get it to R/L with all moving parts accounted for the better :)

No it won't be of much detail,just have to make a cuboidal depression and then it will be moving and i'll have to change the rear boresight as the one currently modelled is for M3.

Made the cocking/charging handle handle moveable,modified the rear boresight as on M2 IRL(except the eye protection around it),welded the spheres to their respective handle,attachd the firing mechanism tube with the main tube.

Good news! Backup boresights and telescopic sight does intervene in each other's optical paths, but still they the telescopic sight is a separate object for the provision of not using the telescopic sight like on the Russian RPG-7 Alt AT kit.

Tell me which rounds to make and are they required to be in the same scene with the weapon,and should the 3P model be done in the same scene as well?

FFV469 Smoke round
FFV502 HEDP
FFV551 HEAT
FFV751 Tandem HEAT

Less important:
FFV545 Illumination. Germany still has the Carl Gustaf in inventory solely for those :p
FFV651 HEAT. Different HEAT, we only really need one
HEAT 655 CS. Again another HEAT, but the confined spaces variant makes it bit more authentic as we dont have backblast :D

They all are very simple shapes, so modelling them should not really be any problem.
