See this what the greater PR community does not understand. we are a nice game, with a nice audience, we should accept everyone we can need fresh blood.
Also, that it is up to us experienced PR players to train the retards.
^This. I usually detest squad leading, but I do it only for the new guys. It's like I have infinite patience for people who dont know. But those who do know, or should atleast know, I have zero consideration for.
I meant about one of the updates not too long ago where people had to download something for their operating system to run PR, or get windows 10 or higher.

I wondered if something like that would push some out, or cause some not to join PR, if they had an older version of windows.
Feels the same way to me. I'm gonna try to reset my win 7 install or something. Maybe that will help.

God I fucking hate 'Nay' microsoft. Cant get shit right. The end user experience of windows just keeps degrading over time. Same reason why IBM, among many other american tech giants went to shit. Windows is so bad now, I'm seriously considering getting a macintosh. And I fucking hate apple computers. I do have an iphone, because somehow droid is worse. And linux is worthless for the desktop.

I just came back to the game after not having played in a few years and I have to say I was very happy to find multiple full and active servers basically every day. Maybe I misremember how it was last time but the game feels very alive to me right now. I'll always come back for sure, nothing quite scratches that PR itch.

Same. I remember when I had a full squad of unfamiliar players on the castle on Operation Thunder. Not everybody had a mic or spoke passable English, but they kept following orders and defending the place. We held it for the entire round.

For some reason, I always remember that when I try to lead a fresh squad. Those bright moments are the best.

When it comes down to squad leading it does not matter if your squadmates aren't the most skilled players in the world, it just helps if they listen to you and eachother and don''t run away everytime.

I do wonder, looking at the player amount where the sudden surge in players is coming from.

Some Russian TikTok person made a video about it. And it got some traction.

I'm glad to see this game still alive and kicking. I might come back and play it again.

What was the max of pr players ever recorded? I once spoke to a dev ingame, who told me that at one time PR had over 1/10th of all active bf2 players. And this was in 2007 during the golden age of .4-.5.

Regarding players stats, have you seen my research? https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showth ... ost2222453

As for % of BF2 players, I can only link this post https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showth ... post207794.
The peak of all mods combined that were playing BF2 mods topped out at about 4% of the peak of BF2 players at the time the mod population peaked (with the original release of PoE2)
It might have changed in the following years though.

No I have not.

Something feels off. I distinctly remember speaking to someone from the reality team back around the release of .5(maybe a few months after?). Who said that about 10% of all concurrent bf2 players are playing pr right now. And back then it was a couple thousand people playing any and all bf2 titles and derived mods.

To me, this thread almost feels like trolling.

Suchar et al, I would suggest to rename the title to “Why is PR so alive (after 20 years)!? It is amazing!”

The title indeed does not mirror the reality (hehe) at all. Even though the thread was created before the significant influx of players in the second half of December 2023, I would still consider it incorrect given the numbers for October and November were already noticeably above the average (according to my PR population data).

I will not rename the thread though. If you want to counter it, create another thread with the title you suggested, perhaps to also discuss the possibility of keeping the population numbers high and maybe even increasing them further. Although I can already see the main conclusion will be "we need more tiktoks" :-P

Hopefully the new tiktoks will actually focus on teamwork.
