just create a local server, open console, type
sv.startdelay 0 (press enter)
sv.numplayersneededtostart 0 (or just sv.nump then press tab and type 0)
sv.allowfreecam 1
then, spawn, suicide, deselect spawnpoint, open console again and type
renderer.drawhud 0
close console, press space bar and look freely through your map.
also, try looking into Rhino's and other DEVs tuts on the sticky topics. Many of your questions will be answered there by just reading it.

Not bad at all for a first map, but there's a lot of thing you'l still gotta figure out.
1st- generate low detail maps. In texture editing mode, select each texture, in the tweaker bar, set their "lowdetail type" to 1 if it's a plane texture, or 2 if it's a steep texture (like a rock)
Then, on the right side of the editor screen, click "Set low detail texture", select the only one there is, then click on generate low detail map.
2nd - DOn't use so much of these small static objects. Like crates, rocks. Use only what's necessary. Having many statics doesn't necessarily imply in a good map.
3rd - copy water settings for a vBf2 map that has your water preferences. Also, the one you're using low is too bright
The military base and village look cool
Though you should keep in mind the space you see for your map in the editor can't be the space you're gonna use. If you made a 512x512 map, try to always use only 60% of that territory, so the rest will only be the surrounding areas.

cheers for input, how do i copy water textures?, i will prob use the ones from mushtuur city
did you like the little underground bit beneath the helipad?

Yeah, nice set with that underground, just add a few walls to it. Might be the barrier blocks as well.
Just extract a water.con from a server.zip inside mashtur's folder for example. then paste it into your map's folder.
