What!?!?!?!
My problem with the bf2 smoke is that its too high, and should be spread out more. To actually provide visual cover!

BF2 smoke is too slow to build up. It should be an initial explosive effect and then build from there more slowly. Instead it's like a small can of fart, that slowly release gas.

But thats not realistic..
Ever shoot off one of those smokebomb firecrackers?
Quite the same way, the smoke starts from a single point on ground (The canister) then usually wafts in the direction of the wind, always wafting up, not out in every direction like the smoke in the game.

WTF!? Read the posts and please watch the clips before posting such things! There are several types of smokegrenades. CHECK THIS CLIP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tllB1HpJM2k Around 6 minutes they fire the smokegrenades, and it's fast!

Yeah, firing from a mounted platform
Brads are capable of the same thing, and the grenades they use have much more of a "pop"

I'm speaking of the M83 HC White Smoke Grenade, with an M201A1 fuze, provides concealment for anywhere between 25-70 seconds
It has a light "pop" sound, followed by a fizzle, kind of like a children's sparkler..during which the smoke billows up just as I said, from the small point on the ground (the canister) into the direction of the wind, or if there is no wind, into the air. Not out in every direction.
I've really got nothing to say about the smoke fired from a mount, I can only speak from personal experience and I've got very little experience with armored vehicles, just the occasional Brad

okay, yeah anyway, thats the way I want the smokescreen to work for vehicles (the clip).... didn't mean to offend you, if I did Im sorry!

No no no, not at all, Think it was just a misunderstanding, I was talking about soldier-carried smoke, not the mounted-based stuff..

When was the last time you played the original BF2. In BF2, it shoots out, which is un-realistic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg7RR82NQOU a new clip, people throwing the same kind of grenades which were used in the other clip with the vehicles...... realistic yes..... the thing is, there are several different types of smokegrenades... Some build up in an instant some dont.

The one in bf2 (smoke grenades) work like the Smoke launchers (grenadiers) from PR.
The problem with these smoke launchers, is that the smoke doesn't provide any cover AT ALL!

I was playing and me and my squad where pinned by a MG, so I as Rifleman throw a smoke in front of it... He see's that the smoke comes out(slowly) and quickly changes position, becaus the smoke grenade dousn't explode like in normal BF2, the MG can move to a better position... I lost 4 men to a single MG... I think that it should explode...

I think that it should reflect the intent of this mod. Realism.
Anyway, It sounds like you wanted to lose 4 men, running at an MG.

Actualy, no, we where moving to our rally point to reinfoce Delta squad, MG came with a heli(was dropped off), we ran for cover and landed in a foxhole...

Stay in the foxhole.
I hate it when I tell player there is a sniper and then they go and look. (they get hot most of the time).

If your getting pinned down, STAY DOWN.

@everyone, its your own fault if you get shot under any circumstances. unless its in a vehicle, then it always the drivers :) :) :)

indirect but I'll add to this.

I was told to move my conversation about smoke grenade hiss here.

Taken from the Wiki on SMoke Grenades: (click here for wiki)
Image

This is the design of the smoke grenades used by most of the forces in PR. These grenades give off a hissing sound as the chemical reation takes place. These are different than the smoke grenades tossed in the You Tube link above this post.

They also work pretty close to what we have in PR right now, they just need to hiss if you're close.

For detail on my suggestion please see my thread I made.

LMAO.....thats just retarded....it would be a good idea to make people in PR think, rather than just run&gun...

For instance, why dont people, who play Spec Op kit most of the time, start thinking, if they really need it or do they just want the super gun...lol
Personally, I dont like the M4 due its high recoil...but some must be really dumb to use that weapon, instead of trying out another one, which doesnt recoil so much...

It's all about controlled bursts....if you don't believe me look me up in the |3-5| servers sometime ;}.

Back on Topic;

The smoke effect is fine if anything a bit slow on the build up. It should spill out of the cannister much faster than it does currently in game.

single shot!

@outlawz: the m4 is like a railgun man. play instagib a little and get your aiming straight :D
