Take muttrah for instance. Say you are playing on USMC and want to defend the docks from enemies coming from the NW. Well, the only cover you have is a hill of sand which isn't much cover at all. So you being an engineer set up 3 small sandbag walls that work as a good piece of cover. And everyone else looking to defend from that area will flock behind your sandbags instead of out in the open .

GREAT AN ENGINEER POOPING SANDBAGS!!! (maybe using 4 dudes to set up a sandbag would be usefull)

May be good as static cover but not for deployable cover, it's not something you carry around for fun...

It's something engineers carry around for fun because it was drilled into them during training!

mby an APC could deploy it with an engineer.

Maybe if there is an engineer variant of LAV?
Also when your behind the sandbags and theres a firefight ...it's not going to be hard for the enemy to through grenades at your position and wow... 5 kills!

not too keen on the idea, though engineers should have more of a bomb disposal style of role first before they get into field construction.
Wait for quake enemy territory.
It sounds too much like that **** energy shield in BF2142.

So? I've seen them **** squad members, and i've seen officers **** backpacks. I don't think engineers crapping out sandbags would be any worse.

Ditch the sandbags. They take far too long to set up in reality. What I'd really like to see is the engineers carrying barbed wire (ie, that stuff on op ghost train). Much easier to set up compared to a sandbag wall.
Give him the option of placing up to ten lengths but he only has one on him, so he has to go find ammo. Like it is now with the mines. Would make the engo much more useful.
Would be awesome for defending. Just throw down a couple of rolls near choke points and let them come at you....

Yea, I like the idea of a role specific apc rather than some magical universal kit throwing thingie.

I like this idea.
Maybe he could also place 2concealment" cover? Block alleys and hide friendlies behind plywood installations.
I seriously like the idea of sandbags in gameplay terms, but this is reality mod.
Certaintly the engineer should be able to build SOMETHING.
Also; to simulate the building time, have it drop in a heavily damaged state and have it not work until it's fixed some, like uav in vanilla

it would be quite interesting. Most people use standard "camping" places, or in some areas you ahve to use the only "camping" place. With sandbags every round could be different. Once they are on the street, once on the roof, once on the hills etc.
