I don't fully agree, once I took down one abrams tank (two shots in the side) and a escort APC
And its quite easy to shoot down cobras (one rpg wont bring a cobra down so they fly foolishly low) Use the
hit and run tactic, stay hidden inside the urban area and you will live longer...
But I agree on the "no respawn" point, it sucks. Maybe realistic but sucky..

I had my first experience with a FLBIED last night that blew the APC I was in to hell.
What's a FLBIED?
Forklift Borne IED.

From what I have read, most big IED's are artillery shells and such. Those do have the potential to take down tanks if positioned properly. It is hard to represent those in game however.
Forklift IED? WOW. That is awesome!!

There's one on an Abrams, and that's huge.
Tank still intact albeit trackless from what I can tell.

Dirtyharry beat me to the video.
VBIED..... is bounded perhaps a mistranslation of borne ?
If you cover all the bridges then only the APC will get by as it can swim the creeks.
This is making people dismount and clear as somebody already mentioned.
It should also lead to USMC squads guarding those bridges and counterambushing the IED teams.

This might come in time once newer players realise how often the north bridge is 'mined'.
Any experienced players know to check it thoroughly.

Its easy as can be to take car of in the beginning. Just take a APC from North VCP north and take care of the INS setting up and the spawnc ar. They are all looking north.

what about pickup kits?

What about special IED pickup kits that has shaped charges that are much more powerfuland such?
Or a heavy AT pickup kit?
Or more places to hide IEDs on the roads? more wrecked cars? More garbage on the roads?
I feel that the insurgents are outgunned quite a bit in this map. yea, realistic, but throw em a bone.

I wish people would put a little more care in hiding their IEDs, putting them on both sides of the road is effective if the driver is blind. And lets all be a little more creative and start IEDing stuff other than the bridge!

I always place them on the end of the median that faces away from the guy driving across. That's always a good way to go.

Considering that most of the fighting occurs at North and South VCP, it's kind of impossible to really IED anything other than bridges. If the fighting moved towards the city more, and stayed there more, then it would let you put more hidden roadside bombs and whatnot.

one round I blew up a Hummer on the bridge, got ammo, a APC approached, he looked around and started to cross the bridge, slowly due to Humvee wreck. I was sneaky and put my IEDs on the north side, so Allah Ackbar! I died from tank, repawn and the tanker bailed and left the tank 5m north of the bride, so i fix my IEDs on the rear corners of the tank, a APC come flying by right beside the tank. ALLAH ACKBAR!!

<idea>
Shaped charges could be like claymores, but much more powerful and modeled differently =D
</idea>
...unless I'm thinking of something entirely different =/

I've tried IED'ing different places, but the patience required is immense.
The car wreck north of the north VCP on the road is where I put 2.
Waited for about 15 minutes then a tank came along and stopped a bit short of it, at the other side of me there was an APC + infantry and they killed me before I could do anything.

yeah the white car north of nvcp is a fun one. if theres a ditched hmvv near you you can keep grabbing more IED's and put like 10 onm the thing
