I've already made my points...no need in "discussing" them any further.
Wasteland, thanks for the map.

I made a similar suggestion that hopefully will be used. It requires the air-repair stations (green tailer with wind sock) to be the repair and re-arm points and must be taxied to.

Reduce the hight at wich planes can re arm (people tend to swoop and 'scoupe' up some cannon ammo that is just lying in a big heap on an airfield and then go off the PWNXOXZOR some hostiles. Perhaps a re arming station could be signified by a crate with bombs, rockets missiles, ammo boxes(like the Tipai map that griffon created). That way, it'd be better for staging areas where there are temporary airfields set.
Sam for choppers, crates with TV guided missiles on it.

I clearly said I'm not for changing the A-10.
I'm for changing the way it refuels and reloads. Swoop & Scoop is absurd and arcade-ish.
Landing on the airfield, taking the plane to the designated repair/reload station (the size of a helipad, but placed on at the beginning of the runway with a distinct sign on it, so pilots know where to go) they repair, reload, etc and then take off again.

I always land to re-arm and repair whenever I need to, so much easier than passing over about 5/6 times just to get about 10 rockets.

i actually am one of those a-10 pilots that when i fly i'll land after i'm out just for the mock realism fix that people can get and stuff. nothing like landing and rearming/repairing and having to back up and turn on those beautiful sounded dual engines and take off to only land a bit later.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that once you land, it's a pain in the butt to simply turn the damn thing around so you take-off again. Hell, it's just a pain to land the darn things, since its quite difficult to control the accelaration.
Before we even talk about rearming and repairing aircraft on the tarmac/runway, I suggest we look at the flight mechanics first. It would be nice to have pilots pass out if they pull some insane manuver where the G forces would really start to effect.
Hanger too small...

Hows about making a bigger model? I vote yes for taxiing into a Hanger for re-arming/repairs. Dammit. No poll here.
I guess the air-repair stations idea by Maistros would also be fine.
Whats this thing about refueling? What fuel? I can fly forever! And if the A-10 has an afterburner, then I don't know what button to use...
One thing that would be nice to see is one of those little orange trucks to help the A-10 taxi around the airport.

Not really needed, this is a small military jet that can pretty much just taxi on its own without taking flight. Big jumbo's use it because they can't see where they're going and powering those engines up so near to a terminal would "hurt" a lot of people.
Yeah...

It should be able to turn on on the ground but in the game it does not (or not much). It seems to turn in reverse, but not moving forward. I don't know if that is just me or that the front wheel is locked. Anyways that is why I wanted the little orange car thing. And besides, they would be more useful than a forklift.
You see an A10 that wants to turn around so you drive your orange tug over to him to help him out. That would always be possible since the airport is always heavily populated.

Yeah, the turning of the A-10 in reverse on the ground is pretty nerfed, needs to be tweaked a little.

Well i really love this idea, sadly though you have to think of another thing about this..... noobs.... currently in PR id say 25% Of those playing have just come from vBf2 or other "mods" this leads to a Noob seeing you taxing to Re-Arm and Repair Tk you because he believes like its vBf2 and it will spawn soon so he can have it, the Idea itself is sound but its the peaple on the Ground i worry about, Thats why on any Aircraft Map i only Land if Badly damaged but even then i dont stay because i dont trust those on the Ground to leave me.
Damn...

That is a sad, sad state of affairs. I say insta-kill and -100 points for someone that blows up a friendly plane on the ground.

I'm all for putting A 10s on the tarmac-but the runways might need to be a little wider- so that the A10 can land and then turn around again (as said by a previous poster). I agree that it is a difficult job to land those beasts but with a little practice there's no reason why nobody can land a plane.
Hell, it might even lead to more careful pilots or those who are more experienced rather than just someone running to a plane taking off and then getting shot down 1 min later-taking ages for the plane to respawn after which the person does it all over again. [But kudos to the A10 pilots who DO fly as a team- i.e. alternating 'back up' and 'attack'].
I don't really know whether we can implement the same system (land to re-arm/repair) for the MEC and their SU25s- from past experience, those planes do pack quite a punch, if used properly.
:EDIT: This is probably off topic, but how am I still Private? On most servers that I play on I start off as Private (a known stats bug) but over the course of the round I get promoted.

To make it easier for the devs I will at least make a well explained options how this could be made with BF2 engine. This should be totally "makeable" and I cant see why this would not come to PR.
As stated, I am behind this suggestion and hope to see it in future versions of this mod

It already takes several minutes to repair it? How many hours do you want it to be reaired in?

Aldo i werry much like idea of landing for reload and rearm i see a potential problem for doing that on carrier!
I think that driving on the runway shud be set like soldier "run" button only oposite (it slows down moving), so that when pilot holds "run" key plane drives slow to be able to drive it.
come to think of it, that same "key" could be a solution for carrier landings, so that when its pressed, plane suddenly stops as it is hooked on landing wire.

To prevent getting tked while repairing, there can be the runway where the jets take off, and then another runway for landing & repairing that is inaccessible to infantry.

Or vehicle TKers could just be perma-banned by server admins.

i agree with <<SpanishSurfer>> the plane should stay more time like 15 min , and then need to land to refull ou will crash .
