sorry i didnt reply earlier :-P
Good idea. I've put it in the feature list, perhaps it'll be implemented in beta 2 or later (not sure when).

I'm currently working on the Alpha version of the tool. The iGi-clan will test and review it, once I think the tool's "ready". After that, I will look at the stuff we came up with and improve the tool some more (Beta 1). And once that is done, I'm gonna release it to the public (Beta 2).

I'll keep you posted.

Still working on this one.

Here's a list of features of the Alpha-release:
- Select a map to create a battleplan for (only a few maps will be added at first; EJOD 64 and HILLS 64 have been added lateley, will add more soon)
- Name the plan, give a description
- Create squads
- Assign tasks to squads*
- Assign orders to tasks (move, attack, defend, demolish, mine, arty, suppress, supply drop, rally point, possible enemy sniper, possible enemy, possible friendly sniper position, smoke); these are visible on the map
- Group tasks (by using colors)
- Toggle visibility of orders (on a per squad basis)

* A task is pretty much a set of orders. Like, the task is to capture Temple, the orders are; move here and there, set rally point there, throw arty here, attack Temple, etc.
You are free to use the ordering-system the way you want, but it's good to be very specific (perhaps even mention tactics and formations)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Possible future release features;
- Implement in-game screenshots of important locations
- Export to JPG
- Create new plan from existing one
- Create plans for more maps (will add new maps)
- Plan-sharing (give plan a sharing-code, if you want to share it. The ones who know the code, are able to view the plan)
- Select squad-members (kits only, but perhaps a future-future-release can generate a report of an entire team: commander, squads, squadmembers and kits)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm still developing Alpha. When it's done, team .:iGi:. will Alpha-test. Once Beta is ready, you'll be able to test it too. Will post more stuff soon. Enjoy.

The Beta release of the Battle Planner is almost here. However, some of you can test the tool first, before it's released to the public.

If you want this, please PM me, so I can set up a user account for you. I will create the accounts somewhere this week (will notify you by PM).

So far, only two maps are available: EJOD 64 and Hills of Hamgyong 64. I will add more maps soon though.

AfterDune

theres a problem with the toggle visibility, whenever the page refreshes it resets itself, so all the toggle visibility icons go back to normal but the icons dont show.

but all you have to do is click it twice and it comes back to normal, so i dont know whether that was useful or not.

Yes, you are correct. I will fix this asap, since it kinda 'bothers' me. Thanks for noticing, must have slipped my mind ;) .

I was very skeptical about this idea until I saw the early screenshot you posted. Looks like it's coming along very nicely. I'd love to give it a test.

Just had a go of the test, and I think what you've done is fantastic. All you really need is to add the other maps and an Export to JPEG function, and I think you have a very useful application.

Don't stop there, however! Your ideas for future implementations would greatly increase the usefulness of the program.

Now, a couple of questions:

Can more than one person view and add to the same plan at the same time? Or can only one user modify a plan at any given time?

Is it possible to add notes in a text box to the map image itself?

Thanks for checking it out and posting your feedback. I appreciate this!

About your questions;

It's only possible to edit the map at the same time if you log in more than once. Others are in no way allowed to change/edit the plan. However, if you have set an 'access code' and share it with whoever you like, people are allowed to view it (this functionality is not yet implemented, working on it).

Adding notes might be a good idea. Are you talking about side-notes, or more like the 'order images', where you get to place things on top of the map itself?

More future changes (next to the ones already posted):
- Change in layout. Some people have difficulties reading some of the text due to the colors 'n stuff, so I'm going to try some different colors here and there
- Plan sharing (working on this); making it possible to share your plan with others through the plan access code
- Zooming functionality; at the moment you have a pretty detailed look of the map, but sometimes you may want to see the bigger picture. I'm researching the possibilities of zooming. However, due to limitations in a cross-browser solution I came up with, it'll not be possible to place order-images on the map while zoomed-out
- Improvement of the 'suppressing fire' icon (and color)
- Adding icons for 0.6; bunker, firebase, mortar, aaa

I've changed the lay-out yesterday. Some colors need a closer look, but was working behind a terrible monitor, so haven't been able to do that yet ;) .

Woah........
how are you going to add that into a match?
are you going to try and add it into the next version of PR or something
but woiah looks good, sort of looks like ARMA editor

Well, the planning is done before the match starts. If you want to be able to view the plan while playing, you have to alt-tab, since it's a webbased tool.

Lol, I'm not a pr-dev and there is no way a webbased tool can be integrated into BF2, so.. no, that's not gonna happen ;) .

Open BETA

Greetings everyone,

Several users from iGi and Realitymod.com have tested the tool in pre-Alpha and Alpha. After some minor fixes and a huge layout make-over, I am proud to announce that the Battle Planner is now in open Beta.

You can register an account at http://battleplanner.imgoingin.co.uk/ and start 'playing'. If you encounter a problem, anything at all, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix whatever is misfunctioning.

I would like to know what you like about it, what you dislike about it, things you're missing, etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Have fun.

Regards,
AfterDune

Hi

I just went to the site andc reated an account, but have been unable to log in with the error

"Login incorrect".

I created a second acount to make sure I hadn't put a typo in the password or anything, but still get the same error :-(

Any ideas?

*fixed*

Did something stupid there with the login script. It's fixed now.
You need to re-create the account, had to delete the existing one.

When do you think you'll have time to add the other maps and sizes?

Nice work Afterdune. Looking forward to the full release!

I'm not sure how you have this coded, but would it be possible in the future for the user to upload their own map (or possibly an imageshack hosted image to cut down on your server storage) to work on?

Cheers!
