Intense moment?

OGT, North of North Bridge.

I knife a sniper.
I steal his British sniper kit. 1 minute later a sniper comes right behind me but doesn't see me.

(It was probably the same sniper, as he went straight back to the position I killed him at).

I knife him.

I see about 4 Spec Ops behind me. (As I had the British sniper rifle, they didn't suspect anything.) I pull out my knife.

Sprint after one of them. (I was shakin'). I try to knife him but I miss. He hears that and starts bunnyhopping and spraying his M4 (British version).

That was where it ended.

Yesterday we (Bob.Dob, Spacecadett, PiratHenk, Mongol, bjoffe/Mammax and myself) had some really nice tactical squadwork going on, including pointman and formations.

Superior Mind wrote:The other night I was playing and I had an almost scary incident, as if it was actually real. I was in a closed hummer with my squad of on Al Basrah. We were driving up from the south. Just before we drove into the bounds of the city our side was hit by an RPG, it did not pierce the car, but the front passenger was killed instantly. I saw the blast cover my window in fire. I jumped out because our car was about to blow from the constant .50 fire being thrown at us. The second I jumped out I was shot to pieces from AK-47s. I was just scary as it all happened. It felt like I was watching one of those videos from Iraq when you see the hummer get hit by an RPG. I felt like I was looking through the camera guys eyes in the back seat. Has anyone ever had an experience like this in PR?
Indeed, My squad was moving thruw a city and the SL orderd the 2nd Sqd-M for a quick recon. He went up front. over the square... Got the word: "All Clear" and we moved further, when we where in the middle some one on TS shouted: "AMBUSH!"
as we where thorn appart by AK-47's, Grenade's and pistols I saw that some Sqd-M's where trying to get away, we where attacked from all directions. High-Low, north, east, south, west... It looked like the moment in SPR, on D-Day, where the Cpt. is partly deaf for a moment...

got a headshot with a grenade once, actually twice in .03, threw a grenade at pointblank and it smacked him in the face and he died, before it blew up. Not kidding!

2nd Story:

We where in a transport heli and taken to our desination, we took heavy AA fire from both sides and the pilot landed and we bailed out, running to cover from heavy fire from all side's we managed to take cover into a neaby building, as we took our positions at the windows they came rolling in with 2 armored cars with 2 TOW's... circeling around our position the men in the back of the cars threw smoke to cover their movement... It was like time stood still... We waited for any enemy contact... The smoke screen lifted... Infront of us was a tank, and 2 car's... The cars dropped off their squads and coverd them as they tried to enter the building. The SL was giving orders on TS and I was working to get evry-one loaded up with fresh mags... Our Corpsman was having the most trouble... He was their main taget. As they retreated we stayed... Waiting for a 2nd Wave...
Our SL on TS wrote: Stay alert! There might be more of 'em! Reload and stay sharp, prepare for a second wave!
Next thing that happend was that our corpsman was walking by one of the windows and boom...
My squad on TS wrote: 1st Squad member: SNIPER! Get down!
3rd Squad member: Corpsman down! Corpsman down!
SL: Briggs, take his kit and rivive him! We need all the help we can get!
So I did... I revived him and the action started all over again... 2 cars, MG's, smoke, tank, repeat... After 20 minutes of intence fighting reinforcements came...

Last night on Tactical Gamer I was commander for one map - MEC on Al Fallujah. I don't know who it was, but one of the Squad Leaders obviously was playing with his speakers on loud. Whenever he used the COM channel, the sound of gunfire and shouting, together with a slightly crackly mike made the experience sound extremely realistic. It's a shame there isn't a way to mix the in-game sound with the microphone input without using speakers. It added hugely to the immersiveness for me.

One of my most realistic (I think) moments so far was on Al Fallujah Region, I was on the USMC side, and most of the team had no idea what we were doing...since we weren't even able to take Oasis >_<

Anyway, after a while, the squad I was in gathered on one of the dunes to the south of Oasis, and we started to engage the MEC troops at the Oasis, without ever being able to see them. We had a firefight that went on for a couple of minutes, only based on the tracers that were coming our way...it was awesome :p

3rd by me

It was silent... We waited for several minutes... 5... 10... 15... and suddenly they moved in, smoke grenades + a big load of artillery came rumbeling on us...
The attack started... Moving in with 2/3 squads per post and having 1/2 squads per post guarding, we were quickly slaughterd... They had taken FB Middle and North, but we didn't let then get south, as Delta and Echo squad moved to FB North Alpha, Bravo, Charlie guarded FB south. As we where attacked from the north, north-east and east, we try-ed not to be in large groups... Making sure the Medic's didn't get killed. Fighting not only for FB South but also for survival we made it clear that FB South had to stay in british hands... As a rifleman, I threw around ammo and was a psuedo-sniper with the L85A1... The idea that we were screwed passed my mind alot of times... Eventualy delta and echo captured FB North and decended to FB middle... With us dealing with the PLA from front, D and E silently attacked them from the back... As we though it was all over... The silence returned and we waited.. again... The minutes that had passed in that battle will always be rememberd by those of A, B and C squad...

today finally played online since a long time ago...anyways, i forget what map but i was stuck behind a tree and had suppressing fire coming in on me so i was pinned and unable to do anything, told my squad leader to call arty a grid north of my position, he did so, arty came down and was able to retreat, just the way it all happened is just like the shit that we practice in real life with calling arty in when pinned :p

i love how when you lay down some fire on an enemy position he will stay behind cover like in RL.
in bf2 if you shot at someone it was an invitation to run out and engage in the bunny-hoppers fight. i don't even play bf2 anymore, in fact PR is the only game im playing at the moment, but back in bf2 when i was shot at, i found out where he was as quickly as possible then ran at him.

that shit just doesn't happen here!

i love PR! i wanna sex the devs!

I've been to band camp, and American Pie doesn't do it justice. Been 15 years, and I still laugh my *** off talking about "and once at band camp".

Then again, in 15 years to come, I will probably say "and once, in PR". Hopefully, someone will quote that in a movie.

Did we have Mashtuur City in .4? In that case, this is a .4 moment.

The US had been engaged in a firefight for a long time now. Fire kept coming from the Hotel, pinning them down at the Mosque. I was a part of a gang of guys moving around, from the back of the mosque, crossing the dry river bed at the northern end in an attempt to clear out the MEC forces. Bullets were flying back and forth above us as both sides tried to get down enough fire to create a window of opportunity for a rush across the river.

Nobody seemed to spot us as we went across. They were probably all to busy shooting across the river to notice the few guys moving quickly across it. As we came across, we bunched up by the concrete wall facing the river. Checking my selector switch was set to burst fire and that I had a full mag on, I could hear someone say over VOIP, "GO!"

Shouldering my M16, I got to my feet and sidestepped right, along the wall, checking left and right for enemies. It looked clear, and I headed for the two-storey house that was right in front of me. Guys went right and left, firing at enemies I couldn't see.

There was still fire coming from the US side as I stepped onto the staircase leading to the second floor. I hoped they wouldn't hit me. I kept the rifle butt in my shoulder, looking down the sights, focusing on the door upstairs, as I moved up, taking the steps in quick succession.

I would have put a grenade through the door, but I had used them all up before we crossed the riverbed, and I hadn't had the time to find more ammo. As I mved up, I could hear G3 fire from inside the house. I got up to the door. Crouching down, I checked safety again. Burst.

Butt in shoulder, I moved left and forward, through the door. I amost banged into the MEC soldier standing in the middle of the room. Centering my sights on him, I fired for center of mass, dropping him. I turned right, clearing the corner, then moved across the room, turning left, clearing it.

I went for the staircase and hit it at a run. Any enemies up there would have heard the shots from downstairs, and I wanted to use the element of surprise while I still had the chance.

I dived off the top of the stairs and into the glaring sun, turning left and bringing up my rifle. Two enemies, one lying a few metres from me, another on the roof on the next building. I fired at the closest one, using the muzzle climb to guide my rounds onto him. Before he could react, I had dropped him and got to my knees, aiming for the other one. He was turning around towards me, and we fired simultaniously. He missed high and left, and I got several bursts into his prone body. I saw him flop over, then my burst ended with a click. Shit. Dead man's click.

I could hear Arabic voices below me, inside. They must have come up after me. There wasn't time to reload. I grabbed the rifle of the closest body - an American M4 - and turned back, aiming for the door. I moved in on the shadowed doorway from the side, looking through the red dot sight.

Stepping sideways into the open frame of the door, I immidiately saw a man in MEC uniform. My red dot was already on him, and I fired a short burst into his torso, sending him back down the stairs. I went down after him, and saw a body to my left, moving. I turned instinctively and fired, my rounds hitting him center of mass. Turning right again, I saw a third guy, his back to me, firing through the windows. Kneeling down, I placed the red dot on the back of his head and dropped him with a burst of 5.56. The room was clear. I reloaded, telling my squadmates that the building was clear of hostiles.

It felt so real, as if I was in some sort of Special Forces unit, clearing terrorists from a house.
Actually, this was the first time I used the M4, and I was shocked at how lethal it was. I only played it twice again, once after picking it up from a dead body when I ran dry during a firefight.
