Welcome!
Be prepaired for some serious pwnage. After a week you're K
ratio will be about 1:20, and that'll be an improvement from the first few days. VBF2 teaches you lots of bad habits which get you killed quickly in this mod. If you've ever played America's Army you'll have a slight advantage over just BF2.
Be usefull, grab a medic or rifleman kit unless otherwise told. Help your squad mates and you'll make friends.
If you join a squad and nobody is talking on VOIP quit and join another. Look for squads with "TEAMWORK" or "VOIP" in it. "COWS HEROS" is also a good one to join
Let people in your squad know you're fresh meat. If they kick you or give you a hard time leave and join another squad. Most good players will be happy to help you along.
DO NOT TRY TO FLY!!! Goto an empty server with "AlBasrah" map, join the US side and then you can practice with the Cobra, Black Hawk, and A-10. Other flying maps have different planes.
Don't bother with specialy kits (machine gun, sniper, etc) until you've gotten a pretty good feel for basic infantry.
Look forward to seeing you out there. If you're on my team feel free to join my squad. If you're on the other side, Fear The Moo...

Active community, eh? Or it's just that we grab every chance we get to spam the hell out of any thread...Desertfox wrote: wow I cant believe I went to take a shower and when I come back its 3 pages....
Agree on the piloting thing.
To practice flying, create a local server with e.g. Gulf of Oman or Al Basrah, open console and type sv.numplayersneededtostart 1. When the game starts, create a squad and request the pilot kit from the planes/helicopters by pressing T. Then you can fly without killing anybody, except yourself.

Just steady your hand and press no keys. Anticipate when you need to start slowing down so that you can release the W key. When you get to where you need to hover bring the mouse towards you a bit, then edge it away slightly until the chopper slowly just floats. You will obviously need continual inputs, but only very small ones.
