yah was close in the end

the us had two inf squads and only one had a rally point
so the lack off boots made it a hard fight

Hahaha. Awesome :D :D :D :D

Did we ever get a toehold in the city?

Yeah, our squad 2 was almost the only squad in the city the entire game with 6 coming in every now and then. It's really difficult for the US since half the team is always at the damn airport wanting to fly in something. There aren't enough boots on the ground to take anything passed facility. The APC at North VCP was being camped part of the time too, as soon as it spawned it would be blown up.

EDIT we took facility a couple of times and lost it immediately.

I wish I could write out a battle plan and have everybody read it beforehand. It would be so cool. And then have some real discipline.

I figure:

1A-10- one A-10 pilot
2A-10- other A-10 pilot
Cobras- 4 cobra pilots
Mech inf1- 2 tankers, 4 infantry
Mech inf2- 2 tankers, 4 infantry
APC1- 1 APC driver, 5 infantry
APC2- 1 APC driver, 4 infantry
spec ops- One guy goes in spec ops to blow the ammo dumps that can't be hit from the sky. He uses a dirtbike and reloads off the ammo dumps he blows.

If I could coordinate that, it would be amazing. But you can never get that level of cooperation and discipline in-game. You're always going to have the guy who wants the M95, the guy who wants to fly the BHs (though we had a very good, teamplaying BH pilot in the last round), and the locked squads of two clanmates being tards.

And the dumbass that puts SLAMs on a full chopper, only to find himself !smacked.

Well this last round we didn't have any airport campers. We could have used a hidden APC though, as it seemed like a lot of people were having to spawn back at airport.

I kind of get the feeling that we wouldn't need a second A-10 for the second half of the game in future. All the important targets are taken out on their first pass, and you just need an A-10 to keep anything respawning down.

The cobras can get rid of the rest.

Although I suppose I could just give all those annoying single guys sitting on rooftops to the A-10s.

'[EtE wrote:nickbond592']allthough desertfox can i ask a huge favour and can you un-ban [EtE]Surgeon_bond from your server as in the 2 hour fight he racked up 1 to many tk's than he was allowed
I can vouch that these guys were great pilots, and only got TKs because some squads would not control their guys and would instead wander into areas I'd designated free fire zones.

we won albasrah with 160 tickets as USMC tonight on devfile.com

we held the mosque for a long time...

unforunately, the enemy used the dirtiest tricks in the book (CONSTANT noobtubing and rocket launchers, in fact most of the time we were never hit by bullets but explosives). These tactics made the game very frustrating, but of course we still kicked their ***. But it felt more like Quake Rocket Arena than any kind of milsim game.... :(

Same thing was happening in our game, Fuzz. I think over half of my deaths were from RPGs, and the others from snipers. I don't mind the RPGs so much because they are pretty inaccurate, but the insurgents like to use them from 10 feet away much like the n00b tube 203 users in vBF2 before DICE added the delay.

Wasteland, your setup seems pretty good, but I think you still need more dedicated infantry in the city. One squad is needed to defend facility while the other attacks mosque, because last night as soon as we'd take facility and move out the insurgents would retake it before get got halfway to mosque. And another thing, you've got to keep the infantry squads moving once they are in the city. You gave us an order to hold south of facility for several minutes and the insurgents would eventually surround us and wipe us out because we stayed in once place while trying to wait for the reinforcements to come all the way from airport.

What I would like to see is the US spawning at North and South VCP instead of back at the airport, and try to keep the APCs that spawn there intact. This would allow quicker reinforcement of infantry within the city and it could possibly get the insurgents tied up in attacking these points in the open allowing the air power to make quick work of them. Problem is, there just isn't enough US infantry to defend these points and have enough left over to attack elsewhere. :|

EDIT - you EtE guys in the Cobras did a wonderful job with the CAS, even if you did tk us a few times =p
