Mine!

As I said in the PM, looks good KP. After I'm done with Taipei, I'll offer the completed faction to any other mapper that wants to use them, and if enough of those maps get included, the RoCA can become an official faction and would be a nice little "storyline" feature as to why the US would be fighting China.

Nice model (again) KP!
Keep it up, I'm pretty sure it'll look great in-game... Btw... I s2 glock 17 :D

Sure will. I've cleaned it up a bit. Now I can move on and make the slide look better, with sights and stuff.

By this you mean, laser pointers, scopes, grenade launchers and other stuff right?

Yeah, I was gonna put an M203 and a scope on it...

Well, cleaned it up a bit:

It's now the correct version as well. A bit of interwebz0ring told me that the Taiwanese military uses the "old" version, without the grooves above the grip and without the accessory mount at the front.

I think removing the rail & ergonomic grips from the model is a great improvement, definitely looks cleaner, and I'm sure those features can be added through clever skinning. Now all you have to do is the barrel, guiderod, sights and trigger. =p

Another update, now with barrel and sights:

Looks great! Also looks like it'd do well performance-wise (low poly count)

Yeah, when I convert it to an editable mesh, it's about 1000 polys now, with the recommended limit for handguns being about 1500. That's with the guidance rod (or whatever the hell it's called) and the magazine left. So it's looking good, I think. Could probably reduce it even more, if I just took the time...

I thought all GLOCK17s had a weaver rail mount or something on the front no? I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong. Great model!

The newer ones do, that's correct. The Taiwanese military, however, uses an older version that hasn't got the rail. Have a look at the older picture, and you'll see that the original model had the rail on it. Now that it's removed, the model is more accurate.

And thank you! :D

Yeah, there are 3 generations of Glocks. 1st Gen has a plain (no finger grooving) grip; and no tactical rail. The 2nd Gen has the ergonomic grip, but no tactical rail. And 3rd Gen has both ergonomic grips and tactical rail.

What exactly would you mount on the tactical rail anyways? Lasers and lights?

Posted: 2007-03-23 14:15
by KP
Exactly. None of which can be used in BF2...

don't forget to delete the side of the gun that you won't see. effectivly halfing the polycount
