I can't stand stupid SLs either. Nor can I stand stupid commanders. I think it would be great (if Python or whatever could do it) if there was some basic accredidation process, which if passed gave the player punitive abilities while commander on PROS servers. Or give that power to everyone but lower the mutiny threshhold to minimize abuse potential. Or only allow that power when an admin is present so that they can moderate to some extent.

That way you'd have players who know what they're doing able to force some compliance on their squads. I hate stupid commanders as much as the next guy, but I also hate stupid SLs who won't respond to my commands. The way it ends up, you punish the good SLs by always making them defend.

One of these nights I want to play a game on DevFile where I can kick SLs for not following orders. As it is now, I will "!warn Smacktard FOR WASTING TEAM ASSETTS" on occasion if they take cobras without a gunner and other stupid moves.

I voted 7.

I have commanded full teams pretty regularly.

I try to use VOIP (English) however, its functionality for me is flaky, thus I won't take commander unless the position is idly vacant and we're on a map where everyone can benefit from command abilities (arty/supplies), and coordination.

I am always on TS with my clanmates, whom are usually leading at least one squad, or entirely compose the compliment of one of a singular squad. Commanding without VOIP is frustrating for me, as I'm sure it is for the SL's subordinate to me for a couple of reasons.

1. SL's once made aware that a commander is on duty, will likely assume (and rightly so), that thier command element is voice capable, so when they make requests, or try to coordinate with me, or other squads visa vie me, they get frustrated due to what they percieve as me ignoring them, which quickly turns to anger when they check the squad board and don't see the speaker next to my name.

2. I am forced to communicate via text which is easily lost on most people for a host of valid reasons. Thus command assets that can turn the tide during the pursuit of a given objective go unused, and needlessly hamstring SL's that are just trying to implement command orders.

3. Giving a SL an order to Defend a location in the middle of a non-cappable sector (for example) may seem nonsensical to a SL that doesn't have the advantage of the top down view I do, (or communication with me). Thus they don't follow the order, or worse yet, they do, but don't have an accurate idea of the role they are playing...and the whole act becomes an excersize of futility.

Anyway those are a couple of examples of inefficiencies that can be addressed via reliable VOIP from the perspective of someone that has fought against it routinely.

Yeah Mike, your program will be in high demand for .6

I will immediatly begain to check out the new commander set-up for .6 when it goes online.

I will also check out the logistical squad that is needed to support the CO

___

Also, in .6 the CPs will be less, the maps larger, and the battles more linar. All of this will result in more organized teams to get the job done.
We will need some players to conduct practices to explain how squads can work together for better gameplay.

Remember, the CO organizes the team, so if we can get practices where SL are learned how to play with others we will save the COs a lot of trouble in-game.

Examples:

infantry and transport chopper
Infantry and armour
Infantry and gunship.

__

Granted .6 will most likely come out in June if we are lucky, and I may be doing some real life stuff then, but I am interested.

Since the tournament has a pause right now, until 0.6 will be implemented, i would like to ask interested players about the amount of time they would like to spend on such a program?

Please use the template below:

1.
Which of these days would you prefer most:
Friday
Saturday
Sunday

2.
What time (GMT+0) during the day, would suit you the best:

3.
If you were to complete the entire program as it looks in version 02 (http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread. ... ge=2&pp=10) how many weeks do you think you could be kept interested?

I think we need it more than ever.
I would like to see if we could get 32 people to join in a server and follow command orders to the letter.
Make it more of a set piece battle with nobody making their own moves and "winning" the game would mean nothing.
It would give commanders a chance to really work on giving orders because everyone would agree ahead of time to follow all orders.
I will be looking for you guys later today to join in whatever training you have going.
