Yeah, but then you can setup mines and defenses and bottleneck the enemy at the one single land mass.

thats why they would introduce the M113 and the MICLIC at the same time :)

they have it in SB Pro PE, but its expensive and .. a tank simulator. I have seen a video on the military channel though once of a MICLIC launched from the top of an Abrams, forget what the show was called, have tried to find the video forever..

I feel compelled to bring up a really sad tactic used on al basrah by some people. I've been on the same squad with a few guys who would take the blackhawk, have one engineer sit in the back (not gun) position, and as soon as the pilot hovers over the bridge they would drop c4 (from about 40m up) and blow it up. Lameness to the max there. The worst part is the blackhawk would refill the enigneer's c4 after a few seconds.

Well, shooting down a BH is pretty easy on Basra, if they can get away with hovering whilst they drop the C4, then good for them.. just means the insurgents are slacking :)

Agreed

Bridges should take a long time to repair if at all, just like AAA emplacements, UAV trailers etc.
If they dont take as least as long as it does for an engineer to repair a tank from scratch.

It should take a long time to repair even if engineers are teamed up for it.

If they can work together well enough to hover the BH over the bridge and drop at the right spot without it being RPGd I think that's fairgame.

yeah I don't see a problem with that, I'd like to see a blackhawk squad do that!! I remember someone brought up the fact that you can't put c4 on a bridge support and take the support / bridge section out, I've seen it in other games (arma) is it not possible to model a bridge like this?

Well the big issue would be you can't use weapons whilst in the water, so as most bridges cross water it would be hard to blow the supports.

On some of the vanilla maps it was possible to use vehicles and some jumping to place C4 on the underside of the bridges... that really pissed off tanks, who cautiously go up to it, looking for anything on it, then halfway over get blown to pieces.. I remember the screams of cheater when I used to do that :D

Haha, it happened to me on Qwai River when I was in a tank and crossed the southern bridge. They've probably placed the C4 on the sides or something because neither me nor the driver see anything other than 2 mines which we defused. Couldn't stop laughing when my tank all of a sudden fell through the explosion and bridge debris into the water...
You could use boats to get to a support. The repair time for a bridge should be way bigger than it is now. Or make then unrepairable... It would only limit ground vehicles, on some maps (eg. Sunset City has a shallow spots in the water).

It takes me anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes for the bridge to even pop up again, let alone to be at full health.

Eh, I agree with the people who said bridges shouldn't be repairable. However, instead of a scissors-bridge laying tank, the commander/squad leader should be able to call in an air-drop, in which a (SUPER low level of detail) C-5 Galaxy flies over and drops the bridge into position. Those things CAN carry scissor bridges, and can also possibly airdrop them. It would also stop jerks driving tanks around and wasting the bridges. If they can't airdrop bridges...it could also be possible for them to do a touch and go to drop the bridge. ;)

yeah on al basrah the majority of the time the bridges are only repaired to make them drivable and nothing more, I fly back over and the sections are all still black.. the insurgents had someone on bridge repair 24/7 tonight on devfile.. I'd blow the bridge and go re-arm and by the time I was landing it would be already repaired again! very frustrating!
