I always thought the idea of having arty on the beach at Oman was a little cheesey, there should be a destroyer out with the carrier and that's where the arty shoots from.
There is another mod, released 3 days ago, that seeks to recreate the first large battle ships of the 1890's-1900's. Called "Battleship." Looks interesting, I plan on checking it out.

As for the RIB thing, I too have never really liked them, but this is a "reality" mod, and what is out there in that catagory? USN Has the MarkV SEAL insertion craft, but its not a gun boat. There are PBR's, but they are intended for rivine patrols (Parol Boat, River), not beach assault. There are several version of RIB assault boats, my personal favorite is the S.A.F.E Boats the USMC uses:

Then there is the "Combat Boat 90" also by SAFE boats used by the Swedish NavyThe United States Marine Corp SURC is a highly maneuverable, rapidly deployable, high-speed littoral and riverine craft. This craft has expanded the Marine Corps capabilities.
The Swedish shipbuilder DOCKSTAVARVET developed the CB90 Combat Boat in conjunction with the Swedish Navy. Over 225 boats have already been supplied to multiple countries worldwide. The CB90 is constructed of aluminum and designed to operate as a fast attack boat, patrol boat and special operations support vessel. Heavy machine guns are mounted in fixed installations, or stabilized and remotely controlled from a monitor in the wheelhouse. The boat can also carry mines or Hellfire missiles, and a gyro-stabilized twin-barrel 12-cm mortar. The innovative drop bow system allows for easy troop deployment or the rapid extraction of injured personnel

How about a map like the special forces one that takes place on a boat.... except without the lame "boarding" part of it with helo's and boats assaulting the carrier.... not very realistic. However.... a map that takes place in the maze of a carrier would be nice in pr. maybe something like chinese commando's have boarded a carrier and it's up to the marines to clear them all out.... eh, im just talking out of my ***

In response to the person who said that the engine limits "vehicle on vehicle" that is not true. There is a way for you to have that, but I have no idea how to, but it has been done. The WWII mod for BF2 allowed people to walk around inside of a transport plane, and someone had made a C-47 model and managed to make it so you could load vehicles into the cargo bay, and have the entire thing not blow up. I just can't find where I read/saw this footage.

When I used to fish off of Cape Cod, there were a lot of sport fishermen who would launch/recover right on the sandy beaches. To land their fiberglass boats they'd start about 500 ft off the beach, goto full throttle and make it all the way up above the high tide mark. It is possible to do what the game allows you, just that IRL a squad of Marines would want to keep their boat ready just in case they had to head back out. Once the boat is that far up on shore you need to push it back down to the water.'[R-PUB wrote:Woody']Another problem with boats in BF2 is how far up on land they can get. That would never happen in real life.
