'[R-CON wrote:DJJ-Terror']by the way... max possible view distance is 1000m.
im not so sure, ive never tried to see how high it would go fully as i just bump it up untill the framerate is what it should be, or in OGTs case how much i wanted it to get the kinda "foggy" fell to it.

If you didnt use the editor and hacked the code i recon you could probaly get more than 1000ms, but ive never tried it and theres no real point trying cos 80% if not more systems would lag above 1000ms on there normal BF2 GFx settings.

but ye that pic DF posted looks like 1000ms, as the map is only 2kms and that buidling aint more than 1000ms away.

I think what he means is that... Time to switch to ArmA.

ArmA aint DX10, no point to move and is already a reaistic game so there is only limmited amount of tweaks we could do to it.

Good enough an answer for me, and frankly the only one I have gotten thus far. Persistence-1 ArmA-0.

So damn nice

I tired something similar - set viewdistance to 2000 "x units"...

This is the way it is supposed to be! It actually is possible to attack from far above.

Also changed Renderer.minCullDistance to 2000, but as you can see, there is still some popup. Which commands can be used to change the LOD settings?

Desertfox wrote:Is it fair to drag down the view distance for people who do have a good system? Thats what I mean its a standoff. People with high-end computers want higher, people with low end computers want it the same :/

yes, it is fair. BF2 has minimum and recomended system requirements for a reason.

How to do this...

Post by [-=IDSF=-]SykloAG »

I'm not going to post about messing with official files here, but if you want to know how then PM me.
I can also email the 1 archive that you need to replace.

Its quite easy, but Backup, backup, backup...

lol looks gross with 5000m view distance, makes the city look super tiny...because it is, if you can see 5000m then you would have to make the city huge *** and stuff, unless you are 30,000feet up in an airplane cities arnt so tiny especially big ones like that.

just keep view distance how it is

That is the most realistic representation of a Iraqi city in a video game. I say let us have no 'fog' unless you want to represent a sand storm like falujah. Yes the city looks small, because from 10,000 feet asside from Baghdad is that tiny. Now granted there should be a lot more there for a city like Basrah, but that just isn't possible, so call it some other tiny city and be good.

My desktop has a GeForce 7600 GT; because PR became more graphics intensive in 0.4 and 0.5, I have had to set my video settings to medium. If PR becomes more graphics intensive, I can always set my video settings to low. There is no reason why people with higher end systems should have to suffer when I still have the option of setting everything to low.

If low players are having lag problems set view distance down...

No but the ...... They have no reason to cry, because if they set it to 100 they will lag, but they know they can still lower their settings.

Sounds good to me. Also notice the mosque's walls haven't been drawn.

Although 5000m view distance is a bit extreme, the longer view distances do make it seem more realistic.
