Ya guys how about getting this back on topic.
PR is clearly the best mod for any FPS i've ever played. The physics and damage affects are just perfect. The maps are dramatic in scope, everyone should know about it. BTW, i'm one of the better Cobra Pilots in the air today. And yes i'm bragging

I agree that this is a very entertaining mod, but I just feel sorry for the POE developers. They put more work into their mod trough beautiful models and maps, while this mod have gotten fame only trough tweaking the current Bf2 settings.
Don't get me wrong, I love this mod! But calling it best mod in BF2 is pushing it in my opinion. The only unique models you have created are weapons for the british side, the rest is regular BF2 models.

I do think you have done a great job, though from what I've seen, POE seems to a tad more proffesional in that they're able to create models which are close to or better than retail games.'[R-MOD wrote:eddie']So radically changing the way gameplay is and creating vast features contributing to teamwork is not as good as creating new statics and vehicles?
If no then you'll love our new versions![]()
I'm not saying you had an easy job, but the whole modelling/skinning process is definitely the hardest work in any game development.
And that alone makes you not deserve to have the "best mod for BF2" tag, in my opinion.
And yes, I'm really looking forward to your next version

I do rate POE2. It looks great but its just too close to BF2 in my opinion. Theres not enough team work going on in most of the POE2 servers ive played on. And like i said before...there just simply isnt enough servers to choose from.Semi wrote:I do think you have done a great job, though from what I've seen, POE seems to a tad more proffesional in that they're able to create models which are close to or better than retail games.

Nearly all PR servers have squads that work together and it makes the experience far better.
Its not all about how it looks

So what you're saying is that PR would be way better if all they did was change the models/maps/skins instead of making the game realistic?
I actually applaud PR for not "spending" all their time on eye candy, and actually making changes where it counts, the gameplay. I say they deserve more respect than the PoE2 and OPK devs simply because they were able to create a mod thats so different to vBF2--that people actually play it for more than 3 months after it gets released.
Think about this: if you took PoE2 (which I have played) and PR and played them both on the same map (lets say, Sharqi Peninsula). Now, which do you think would hold people's interest more...? Shiny new guns and a couple of new sounds, maybe a new skin or 2. __OR__ vastly distinctive, original gameplay that makes it evident that the devs know whats important, and fun in a game and not to mention listen to the feedback of us, the loyal fans
Says who? I've done both programming, and 3D modeling, and I'd say programing ("tweaking the current Bf2 settings") is definitely harder than modeling/texturing. But thats just my opinion. My brother, great programer (3rd year of university), but he can't model/skin for the life of him. It all depends on the person.Semi wrote:but the whole modelling/skinning process is definitely the hardest work in any game development.
oh yeah, and PoE2 was a great game, I just got bored of it really fast (and, apparently, so did the rest of Australia, since about 3 months after its release, all the servers became empty and were taken down).
Just my AU$.02
