A problem I see with making a Russian army in PR.

You need new skins/models for the soldiers, new weapons (if the weapons of your chosen faction arnt already in), which means you might also need new animations (not right away, you could use placeholders like they have done with the malitia), new viechles (or reskinned versions of the current viechles, for example the Canadians are going to used a reskinned LAV-25 as a place holder for the LAV-3) and new maps for them to fight on.
So you'll need a modeling programme (and someone who knows how to use it), the BF2 map editor, a programme you can use for skinning (and somone who can use it) and thats more or less it.
Oh, and time. Lots of time.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

Point of Existence 2KomradePedrovsk wrote: It would be likely that Russia would engage in an armed conflict. Just think of what's happening right now in Eastern Europe and the missile-shield affair. Russia threatened to launch nuclear missiles into Europe in response to the USA plans of building the shields. That's what I've been hearing and reading in the news at least... it's like a Cold War II is starting... or a Cold Peace so to say...
Factions so far:
-USMC
-UK
-Insurgents
-Militia
-MEC
-PLA
Upcoming:
-Taiwan
-US Army
-Canada
Just in case

1) AK-101 is an export mod ( 5.56x45mm instead of 5.45x39mm) of AK-74M with minor improvements .Superior Mind wrote: Russia seems to use 3 standard types of ammunition, 7.62 x 39 mm, 5.45 x 39 mm, and 5.56 x 45 NATO. So maybe this wont be a big problem after all. Just putting that information out there for everyone.
2) Russia do not use .223
3) 7.62x39 weapons are very rare now , grunts are armed either with AK\RPK-74 ( 5.45x39mm ) , or SVD\PKM ( 7.62x54R )
4) You forgot 9x39mm weapons , fired from special ops weapons ( OC-14 , AS VAL , VSS 'Vintorez' ) . Great stopping power , great accuracy .
Yes , Russia has an actual army .vanity wrote:Russia has an actual Army?

LMFAO are you having a larf or sommin russia and us,gb on the same side corr thats got me in the giggles that haspuglous wrote:Aww...I was kind of hoping for a Russian army when I read this thread. The US and GB really seem like they could use the help, considering they're fighting offensively against the Chinese, MEC, and Insurgents (presumably all at once).

The main island of Taiwan, also known as Formosa (from the Portuguese Ilha Formosa, meaning "beautiful island"), is located in East Asia off the coast of mainland China.
Taipei's Army is organized and trained to defend Taiwan and the offshore islands against an invasion. About 80 percent of the Army's combat strength is on Taiwan proper, under the control of three field armies. The three offshore island commands -- Chinmen, Matsu, and Penghu -- have a total of more than 50,000 soldiers.
They are the most likely enemy of the PLA and also the most likely cause of WWIII.
It would be some interesting terrain thats' for sure.

I think it will be hard for the Devs to pick a new faction (not that they are, besides possibly the US Army which has been talked about). I would love to see Canada in game, duh, but we are more peace keepers globaly. We are on the offensive in Afgahnistan. If you start looking at countries like Canada to be included based on our military heritage, active deployments and size you could make an argument for a long list of other countries.
I think at this point it will be one of the Devs pushing for a personal favourite then the logical choice, which is fine with me.

It's like the Cold War is over and a supposed peace followed it, however it's not exactly peace, due to the recent stalls in U.S.-Russian relations. It's a widely used term today in light to recent events:'[R-MOD wrote:Thunder']cold peace?
what exactly is that

So there you go what it is more or less

As far as adding new factions to the game I think it should be based on the community and how many people wold want to see them as well as the not inconsiderable effort it clearly takes to make a new faction.
Honesty, we have russian weapons so that is not all that interesting although it would make the modelling/animating that much easier.

To me this all seems like Russia doesn't want America to wear "protection".
