I guess you could do a bit of workaround to the scenario above by leaving a "wrecked" and not drivable technical, basically a static object and stick the .50 on it. Then you'd just jump onto the static object, i e technical, and use the .50 just like in any other fixed gun emplacement.

The question to this is; Would it be worth the effort just to have another fixed gun emplacement?

How about only letting people with insurgent kits drive the vehicle, this way A US or GB soldier could just get in the MG and it serve as a stationary MG. and if I kill an insurgent and take his kit that simulates me taking his keys.
might be getting a little to complex, but i'm just throwing this out there.

Work it around.
No Grey vehicule
Only Colored vehicules.
Insurgent + Humvee = Friendly Humvee

Sorta twisted but it's why when a vehicule can't be salvaged they blow the shit out of it.

Would you see a Insurgent drive Humvee IRL?
Would you see a PFC drive a Iraqi car IRL?

'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']actually it's a technical problem in the engine that . uh.. you can make up all kinds of rationalizations for hehe...

...but the REAL reason is that if the vehicles are NOT locked to teams, when you get out of a vehicle it leaves a grey vehicle on the minimap visible to BOTH teams. Sorta like "we're over here!!!".

We tried to work around that, but it didn't work, so we decided to lock almost all vehicles to avoid that.
Poor Eggman I only hope he has these recurring answers saved and is just pasting them in every couple weeks as they come up ;)

PFCs no but Insurgents would...I like the locking all types of enemy vehicles if u see a Humvee you dont have to check the minimap before you fire considering you are PLA/MEC
But insurgency is an exception i think...That is why it is called asymmetrical warfare :)

I think the problem here is that most people forget to check the gas tank door and under the bumpers for keys. Thats why the vehicle is locked, the Devs don't want you to know this though ;-) :p

i think that IRL US soldiers arent enough idiots to abandon a humvee

Why should that impossible?
What's the difference to the crewmankit for a tank?

If the mini-map was removed, would we be able to use enemy vehicles?

already explained it, worked on lots of different possibilities, it is what it is, no need for further discussions about things we can't make the engine do.
