Ill change all that Cherni. Give me time. ;)

All those wussy chess peices drove me crazy. I urged the thought of destruction, and from my two hands crafted what will become a weapon.

I present a WIP mystery weapon. (heavily WIP)

P.S. Damn, modeling is fun.

ITS A FLUTE!

Eh, I made that "flute / SA7" the wrong way, so I quit before I got further. I am supposed to use planes and turn them into polygons. But turning it into an editable polygon, the plane, (or square) needs many many vertexes in which then mold to form the object. Well, I used a video tutorial to get this far, but anyways, here is what I have done. 5 days slow work, but I got pretty far in.

I was going to show you guys a day by day progression but I thought I would just surprise you.

You cant see the other side on pic 2 from that picture but it does indeed exist.

Man, I wish you could just make your models in Google Sketchup and then export it somehow...

Posted: 2007-04-20 04:54
by Dylan
I have heard of sketchup, but right. I don't think you could export it into a game, so instead of learning that, I learned 3ds Max. Plus, one day I can texture this put it into any game I want. Although I would need to probably learn to animate. Thats a totally different story though.

Quick Re-Update: Got the basic shape of the handle done, then refined and created the trigger guard.

Looking good! What video tutorial did you use?

Its a very good tutorial... Although I am not used to the accent, so sometimes I have to go back and double check if I am doing it right. :-P

If you want to learn animation, please learn it well. I don't suppose you've gotten the test build yet. Join a testing session and I'll show you the result of what looked like a 2-minute job (no offense, Garrison, it's just too hilarious!)

Dylan you inspired me, so I borrow your thread a little (it would be so many "My first..." threads otherwise).

My first atempt in Maya:

Can you see what it is and what weapon it has?

Hint: It's swedish.

I think you just stole Dylan's thunder. It's ok Dylan, you'll still have your wedding day.

I downloaded some build not long ago, but only to check it out... No mic, no point in testing. ;)

Nice apc you got there. Not quite sure what it is (I dont know much about other countries weaponry) but you did model it well...

What technique did you use? Box modeling, or using poly edited planes?

It's a Luftvärnskanonvagn 90 (i.e air defense canon wagon 90) made by Hägglunds and Bofors. 40 mm L/70 canon with a radardome on the turret.Mainly in use against enemy helicopters.
This model is not an APC but there are other 90 models who are.

I didn't use box modeling. I made a cube and divided it and moved the vertexes and then mirrored it.

EDIT: Missunderstanding.
