You -don't- fly with joystick? Why not... Everyone else does...

Joystick? Never needed one. I can cut it without. It is not that you needed but if you have money for such a toy. Go for it.

x2

I doubt it would be able to fly through the Mutrah Docks building in a .4 LB with a joystick.
People who have problems with LB controll now, back in .4 it was about 2/3 faster!

I'm a joystick pilot myself. I don't think mouse + keyboard pilots can consistently beat me or any other talented joystick pilots. There are some shitty joystick pilots, however.

I'll trust a pilot with a joystick over mouse pilots. They are just more dedicated. The control is also a lot better with a mouse.

My main issue with flying is that pilots will choose death over parachuting out, because they'll get another pilot kit before the plane/chopper respawns. Thats why I want pilot kits to respawn 3x longer than whatever aircraft spawn at. So if the A10 respawns in 5 minutes, 15 minute wait for a pilot kit, so some other player gets a chance, or so the pilot can bail, and call for a pickup, which is a bit more realistic.

Anyways, I love flying, but like some other players, I'm turned off by the immense amounts of jerks who teamkill, drive vehicles to get into aircraft, and do other underhanded things to get into an aircraft.

So typically I make a dedicated Anti Air squad and make the pilots wish they were never born. Just out of spite.

Flying planes with joystick = win
Flying choppers with joystick = fail

I love the idea about making huge wait times after your lose a kit, or you cant get another one at all. At the start it will increase TKers slightly, but soon after (about 1 week) admins will have banned them all, and we can all play nicely, giving everyone a fair chance to pilot, if you crash, game over, now join the fight and stop showing off how you can hit the only tree in a desert with the LB.

Hmm, is this going to turn into a pilot falme thread?

Mouse VS Joystick, lol

Completely down to personal preference.

If your joystick has a rudder twist feature it's a piece of piss to fly choppers.

Mouse rules! Its a shame that one cannot steer the land vehicles with a mouse ... that would be awesome!

daranz wrote:Flying with joysticks isn't fun at all. If you move the throttle more than a micrometer back, the engine shuts down and your plane loses all speed and lift (even while in a steep dive with plenty of speed already built up).

Also, I wonder if EA/DICE ever heard of CCIP. I mean, the bomb sight they put in is a joke. It's probably unchangeable, so PR can't really fix it, though. Besides, CCIP requires radar, and planes in BF2 don't have that onboard...

Oh, and first post.
It is IIRC, POE2 did something or other with them.

I've never seen a joystick pilot who has been able to hover without any movement for more then a few seconds. :O

Maybe I'm just amazing. :p

Seriously though I could hover all day.

I usually find that it's the keyboard pilots that are more prone to dodgy landings and such like.

I can easily hover with any chopper for a very long period of time, with a joystick.

I can head shot infantry with the little bird, with my stick. Joystick is much more intuitive. But you need to be naturally good with a stick. So if you didn't play Wing Commander, Terminal Velocity and grow up playing other air games with a stick, its probably going to be very difficult to go from mouse and keyboard to joystick.

Anyone can fly a plane with a stick, sure. Flying a plane is shit easy. People who crash either die from lag or stupidity, or perhaps from a real life distraction, such as cookies.

Chopper flying with a stick requires some natural talent, but if you have that, you can fly a hell of a lot better than a talented mouse & keyboard. You just get more stability and control with a stick.

Yeah I've been playing flight sim for years so it's engrained into me.

Stick + keyboard for throttle = win!

But thats how I personaly have played air games for years, the old F/A-18 hornet games and terminal velocity ect...

Those are dodgy pilots.

Ask anyone that has flown with me in the cobra. (that's you, fresh).
