I have had many times where I could not effectively kill infantry with those things.
Your
sig is starting to ring true though isn't it?
Maybe, but the idiots aren't over in Iraq unfortunately

Damn that minigun is so tight, I love watching that video. I seriously can stand when people go "oh just make the minigun 1 shot kill...that will fix things" NO NO....watch that freakin video...that minigun has a kill radius of like 4 feet....give the thing splash damage. No nerfing in this mod, its not like blackhawks are sitting ducks anyways...hell all I ever do is die in a blackhawk when getting dropped off. Even when the pilots good...lets make people fear the damn things like IRL.

Another round of Basrah has come and gone, and once again I was screwed by the BH's minigun. I sent a stream through an RPG gunner running through the alleyway, at this point I don't even know if they take damage at all from it.
Anyway, he popped out and nailed our Black Hawk with an RPG round. Then our beautiful pilot decides to get pissed at the minigunners.
We can't kill them if our bullets go right through them.

Yes I do.

Yes I do.
disagree with the maker of this thread.
I to have went on door gunner/navigator/ magic wrench detail and the minni gun was a joke.
I had to double check the date this thread was made to make sure it was not in .3 or .4 or something.
Recommondations:
Keep current accuracy
Improve splash damage by 20%-40%
Improve the disorintation one gets from the bullets hitting close by a whole lot.
Thus, making the miniguns a suppresive fire tool to aid the chopper during extractions and drop offs.

really. I mean think about it, even if the bullets weren't a 1 shot kill (which they probably should be) whoever got shot by one in real life would be dead; the ROF is so high that simply aiming at someone for a second means they get hit with probably more than 10 bullets (that's a random estimate). So since the ROF is slower in the game, it would only make sense that it should be a 1 shot kill. Plus, it's a minigun ffs therefore it's f ing powerful.

4,000 rounds/min divided by 60 sec/min = 66.6 rounds/second
That's gotta hurt.

And just to clear some mistakes I saw earlier in the post. An A-10 does not use a minigun. It uses a GAU-10. 30 MM of death. Not 7.62.
Try flying in some of the air sims like Lock On. You'd find that the A-10 is a flying sniper rifle with Hellfires under it.
If anything I think the Minigun should be bought back to DC lethalness. Playing as an Insurgent in Basrah only taught me to laugh at lil birds while aiming RPG's. Dont you think so?

Tried
Spread Damage?
Bullets would hit a larger area than one dot on the ground...splash damage can be reduced....
(Basically suggested inaccuracy, but its not the gun, thats inacurate, its the bullets

)

Like in Delta Force BHD, um maybe not though everyone would be sitting around and waiting for a pilot to take the beast in the air.

Ya, I have to say the current state of the mini guns is not good. I will back myself to head shot the gunner most times the situation arises.
Realistically, I shouldn't even think twice about poking my head around a corner I know mini gun is trained on.

I dont think most of you guys get it.
**Making the miniguns less accurate would make the more effective!**
Why you say?
Because they sould have a larger sprea of fire. if you just got your aimer close to infantry, there would be a good chance of them dying. Also making the bullets a one shot kill would almost make up for the low ROF. IRL, miniguns are NOT the most accurate things, espescialy the a10 gun.

More deviation.
Same splash.
More damage.
More tracer rounds.

I generally agree with the damage increase, although I don't have any opinions on which options are best. What I do have an opinion on, however, is the more tracers.
From what little I've seen of the BF2 internals, it's either extremely simple or hard coded, but I might be wrong. More tracers though!

exactly.
i dont really mind the spash so much as i hate the explosions. is it possible to keep the spash but get rid if the little explosions?

I suppose no one in this thread was here for C2...
I believe the 2 BH gunners got 200 kills combined on a 1000 ticket game.
It all depends on who is flying and who is gunning.

You saw all those tracers spreading once it hit the ground.
IF someone fired that 10m away from you at the ground, you would most likely die from a richocheting bullet.
Splash Damage should be huge, but if done so, limit the ammo make it realistic.

I don't wanna see their deviation increased. Make the rounds more powerful and add splash damage. Also, the GAU-8 is not inaccurate

i think the mini's should be like the where in vBF2 1.00
those things ripped through everything. best weapon in the game

Um this post would be almost worth the trouble if the coder responsible for weapon balancing could put our minds and mouths at rest and give us a yes or no. I mean we all agree the minigun is underpowered right? So there is nothing to discuss. All that is needed is a word from the PR team.
