For the sensation of fear to be implemented, we need people that stand behind you with an Ak, M16, or SA80, depending on what faction you are playing, and when you get killed they shoot you.

or

Require everyone that plays PR to have a revolver next to their keyboard with one bullet (Russian Roulette) and when they get killed in game they pull the trigger. I think this would drastically increase the amount of medic saves or else, eventually, there would be no PR players left.

You know, I don't think US or British forces in Iraq go around carpet bombing cities and blowing up houses. Yeah, there might be a damaged slum wall somewhere as a result of an RPG hit, or a burning car... These days, US is trying to be really careful with not hitting too many civilian targets, though.

True but in real life none of the battles thats are being faught in this game happen either. As well in real life an A10 would not be used for close air support like it is used here. But it is a game and considering all the firepower in these maps(not only the basrah map which im sure your talking about)there should be more battle damage.

Ive heard from many sources that in alot of cities, such as Fallujah, there is not a single house that doesn't at least have a bullet whole in it. Keep in mind that the coalition are not the only ones in the was with weapons. And there are also several civil wars going on at the same time between people who don't care who dies.

@thread starter

What's wrong with the sounds? You need to be more specific, are you refering to ambience tracks?

EDIT: waylay, is that Shawn Lane in your avatar? He was a king among men!

ironcomatose wrote:Yeah streets is sweet just to small. But i agree make things a little more dim. And add much much more battle damage. Like burning buildings and cars as well as half destroyed buildings and what not. I think we should make a poll to see what everyone thinks about this.
The whole map of Street is a city, but we only get 1 street to play on. :(
and its 16 player.
The Ambient sounds are nice most of the time and the atomosphere is great, but , the Chopper fly by reminds me of crappy CS. (coming from random locations with random sounds level would be good.)

I thought the greasy mullet effects were awesome, however some ambient gunshots would be nice in city maps.

I agree. I didn't know this was possible with the current game engine but if it is I say go ahead. There should be a lot more smoke coming from explosions, and weather should play a more important role (darker maps if it's partly cloudy/hard to see if it's foggy or rainy).

But I'd love to see that setting played PR style :)

And yes, Jaymz, that is the great Shawn Lane in my avatar. 8-)

Guys, I am sorry to break this to you but there really aren't any muzzle flashes in modern guns during the day.

If your gun is flashing then you haven't cleaned it very well or there is some oil in there or you are using really bad quality rounds.

I myself have shot with a rk-95 at least 2000 rounds. I never saw a flash coming from the barrel unless it was a night. There comes just some smoke.

Maybe with a mg you can see some flashes. i remember when we were training with pkm. The barrel was really hot. When it was my turn to shoot with it, well... :D we were supposed to shoot burts, but I couldnt resist to shoot some longer ones. And that was the only time when I saw some flames coming. And with another MG kvkk, there even came fire from the launching mecanism (or what you call that place where the bullets get the ingnition). But those guns were already very hot, cuz there were 30 other people shooting with the same guns.

But It think it's stupid to have somekind of "over heating" with mg's. I was never denied to shoot long bursts because of over heating.

I'm pretty sure 2Recon has fired a weapon and knows what he is talking about considering his background.

If anyone here played the later versions of FH for bf1942 they had some excellent sounds especially the ambient tracks. This is one area that I don't think the BF2 engine could cripple any attempts to improve things
