'[R-DEV wrote:IronTaxi']i guess one of the biggest things is we dont have enough static modellers!!!!

if there are a few more around give me a PM and we will get you modeling! hehehe
Wish I could. I app'ed for a modelling gig @ FH2 a few months back, and then my workload IRL just about tripled. Can't take that kind of risk.

wouldn't destroyed buildings mean more polys?

I would enjoy seeing more destroyed buildings for scene setting, e.g. peeps like to use the xp1 asylum to set up a nice crater scene, but I wouldn't want a whole city of destroyed stuff like a modern day stalingrad :)

more firing points is always good though, however its always sucky when the modeller has made something lovely, but then puts windowframes right at the place you aim :P or makes the wall under the window so high that in a 3rd person perspective your weapon is inside the building when your aiming - the worst part of that being that the guy inside can fire out...while the gun would actually hit the wall, and its harder to hit the guy from outside :)

thats pretty interesting, a few imploded statics sound nice, something that you'd want to call air support on since you cant get the buggers inside with just bullets :P

the question is, why aren't there many static modellers? there are so many fantastic vehicle and weapon modellers. FH2 in particular has lovely statics, though I've not seen many that PR could use.

a big yes on this one,, i love on basrah or karbala when the tank and apcs jus start leveling the place from a far then you walk in with infantry all the buildings are rubble and there r bodies all over the place

Seems a lot of fences and walls in urban maps are so intact it can detract a bit from game play. How many times in a map have you been stuck on the street when you know a an enemy APC is coming? I mean specialist schmecialist. You can't always have or be around the hook guy.

If you had a gun in your hand enemy armor bearing down on your block you'd find a way into any buiding or yard near you.

I'd like to see more gaps in the fences/walls and even more damaged holes to shoot through (like in Fallujah)

Anyone seen the rock slides in Korengal :-)

Also remember that for each destroyable building mean getting closer to an unstable server. Each destroyable building cost a network object, which is why allot of maps we've had to remove a majority of ladders for the same reason.

The OP is talking about destroyed buildings though, not destroyable ones, so static objects instead of dynamic. :-)

And I agree, every bit of video or picture Ive seen of urban fighting there seems to be a lot of half smashed buildings, walls, and anything else lying around. More cover is good.

As long as it doesnt create more server crashes or lag issues. :? ??:

Blah, nevermind. It is map dependent on atmosphere whether buildings should be destroyed prior to battle or not.

"RPG in the building over there! Across the road!"
"Which one?"
"The broken down house!"
"Yeah, which one?"

But hell yeah, destroyed buildings. As long as it isn't 100 percent out of hand.

not fully destroyed buildings but maybe like one of those apartment buildings could have a caved in section which is inaccessible, OR opens up some new ways in / out

I would like already destroyed buildings, not ones you can destroy that cause lag

Like the maps from fh2 where it looks like they were already bombed before battle

I would rather have a stable running game/server then alot of destroyable buildings.

Sure put it up to the maximum where it is stable but afaik this level has already been reached and has nothing to do with the indivudual computers but with the engine limits itself.
