With the now even more limited amount of jets I still maintain that an all air map would be nice to appease the fly boys and tone down the amount of people chillin on the run way for the entire map.
Looks like an awsome update, cant wait for .6, its going to completely own.

Yeah...an all air map that is Objective based....like one side has to protect a carrier from being destroyed, or protect some C130's from being hit on their way to drop MOABS on the enmy base...if they get their its all over

has been a real annoyance so far to land the A10 and F16 on the small airstrip on greasy and not be able to move it with the ruder nor rollin it backwards.. only SLAMS help

helicopters shaking either means you have taken damage or are travelling at very high speeds.
working on taxi'ing issues.
the jets are totally out of place on the existing 2km maps with their power and speeds. You end up constantly turning and not actually flying, so they will only be featured on the largest maps.
And I would love to see an objective based mostly air combat map.

hehe.
Right now we are into the final stages of development of the CODE for v0.6 and should have the final CODE beta released to test within a couple of days.
We still have a fair amount of work to do on MAPS, but will be going into an open beta with only some of the maps. There will surely be some CODE bugs in the OB, but we're hoping to get most of them so we can focus on load and play testing.
So er.. guesstimate that I am hoping we can do an open beta very shortly.

You say there will be this "jet overhaul" when you haven't said any brit jets are going to added thats what i'd say is a jet overhaul just one would please me a ground attack jet for the brits on al basrah.

Woooooohooooooo, I can't wait for this version... oh snap!
But will the new 7km maps be a "memory killer" like Basrah? My 1GB RAM seems not to handle that map, HD "swaps" every second.

Well snake doctor's Baghdad map is lag free and that's huge.

Ive customized my video settings, no frame lag XD...just put Textures on Low and the rest on Medium, graphics look a bit cartoony, but you can still see detail and that...a lot of people complain about "oh I wont be able to see anything"...geez

So are the textures and lighting effects the main "problem"? I'm playing all MEDIUM (geometry HIGH) and 1024x768.
1GB RAM
GF 6600GT 128/128
The main problem seems to be my RAM, because there are so many HD swaps during Basrah for example.

Great news. Finally having jets can be realistic (at least to the extent the BF2 engine allows). Always hated the jets in PR because of the bases being so close and them not behaving even remotely realistically.
And rescue missions... will be nice to have to fly for a few minutes to rescue a downed pilot instead of the current 10 or so seconds it takes on any normal map to rescue one.
Cannnnnnot wait for the huge maps.
