If you see a grappling hook, you should be able to throw it off the edge it clings to.

Rangers on Point Du Hoc in 1944. Although they didn't actually throw the hooks themselves, the hooks were fired from LCVP-mounted launchers onto the cliffs.
Anyway, a hand grappling hook can be thrown quite a distance into the air, so it's not really all that unrealistic. You also have to consider that this is a game, and although realistic, you still do a lot of things you can't in real life.

Like respawn.

In real life you don't need a grappling hook. In real life you either kick the door down, blow it up with a SRAW-MPV or, in case of insurgents, ask Ahmed to open it for you. You then climb the stairs to the top floor and take a ladder to the roof.
However, we can't do that. So, the grappling hook is the next best answer.

^^@ Daranz, Best answer so far, lol. EDIT: TexLax, that was in Oscrina of Time, right?
Dude, if you've never seen a grappling hook, you need to check out the treasure chest that is online ninja and army surplus shopping. And you've never gone urban exploring until you do it in full gear, including:
Grappling hook with really long rope which feeds into rope bag strapped do your leg,
Tabi boots (with extra tabi socks thrown in when you ordered them),
Buddy's CQB airsoft uniform (all black.... urban camo would be cool too, but then you might get shot),
Hand claws and spike shoes in urility belt,
Rappelling gear able to hook into grappling hook.
Damn that was cool. Although you really shouldn't use a grappling hook as your anchor for rappelling. According to my climbing friends it was rather retarted of me.

That would be an awesome way to get yourself shot if attempted in the States. Either by police or neighbors witnessing that.

The hook makes up for the fact that you cant go in any building as you would be able to do IRL. What else do you need to know but that.

usually climbing ropes are used to DESCEND steep gradients, not ascend hehehe

kinda hard to lift yourself with all your gear AND your rifle up a little rope
However, its not entirely unrealistic and I think its kinda cool, but should definitely not be put on all maps, only a couple...

They should have ropes that people can use to climb out of copters, as it is now new pilots have a hard time landing, but seem to hover "okay".
