Wow I love that analogy.

I wish I had come up with that on my own. I heard it for the first time from Rob Ryder, a flight instructor and all around aviation guru with Sporty's academy. It was also referenced again in the directed readings for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight by Rob Machado.

I could be remembering wrong, but I'd hate to take credit for someone else's brilliance.

mouse and keyboard always worked for me, just turn the sensitivity up to about 3 or so, so you arent crazily running the mouse on the pad five times to get your nose up.

get on a private/lan game and just fly, fly fly. i got on my Project Reality_Singleplayer game with a friend, i flew the BH and he was both gunners up against some bots on Al Basrah. after 30 minutes or so I was rushing between buildings, hovering between them, flying and coordinating attacks with my friend on the guns, hunting spawn cars, and just doing a fine job (of course, online, Id have to be MUCH more carefull, but at least now I can say I can fly ahlfway decent)

I've learned to turn the sensitivity down to prevent overcompensation. Especially on muttrah when fast in/exfil is manditory.

Well, since I was the one that did all the helicopter handling changes, having spent so many hours testing and tweaking them, I can most certainly tell you they didn't change.
The choppers are easy to fly with a Joystick.... They are far better than Vanilla.

My only complaint is landing.... You give Zero throttle and you float like a feather for what seems forever! And God help you if you land on a surface that isn't 100% flat...

Why is everyone always complaining about this? I find them quite easy to take off / land / fly ... maybe it's harder to fly with a joystick though, I dunno.

If your joystick isn't calibrated correctly, the helo/plane will turn one way at all times. Even when taking off. Therefore, if people don't fight their calibration then they will simply flip over before they take off. I am guilty of doing this, ya know when you're eating while your chopper is spooling up and your chopper tilts forward a bit. And oh god if you're in the LB, you're screwed. I'm sure all of us joystickers have done it.
