Side note: the abrams uses a gas turbine engine and diesel fuel, but it CAN use gasoline and jet fuel. It would be insane to use jet fule though, do you imagine the cost of it??? All tanks use diesel because otherwise it would be difficult to get anywhere, you couldn't realy find that sorts of fuel in your ordinary gas station.
IIRC, they actually do use jet fuel sometimes. Simply for ease of logistics. Not sure about this though.

the engine is a the abrams achillies heel the heat makes it stick out like a sore thoumb on thermal imaging.

agentscar....can you provide a link to this" blast proof chamber " that protects then engine ?
I know the M1A2 has a blast proof ammo chamber with blow out panels to channel the energy away from the crew but I have never heard of the "blast proof chamber" that protects the engine
