One more time for the reading comprehension impaired: the Marines are not the only US service represented in the game.
The Mk-11 would have to be a new model, not a reskin. The Mk-12 is used only by special operations forces, but there are other accurized M16 variants in service with the Army and Marines as squad-level designated marksman rifles in regular infantry platoons.
The Mk-11 will probably eventually replace all of the USMC Precision Weapons Section built M14 DMRs in the inventory; it has been used by the SEALs and other special operations forces since around 2001/2002. The SR-25 on which it is based has been used by various US units for several years, including by the 75th Ranger Regiment for their sniper team observers. Another Mk-11/SR-25 variant has been selected as the Army's M110 Semi-Automatic Sniping System, and will likely replace most if not all of the M14s being used as DMRs, and probably the older SR-25s, too.
eddie13 wrote:as for the SMAW maybe that could be a light AT kit or somthing beacase i think all AT kit are great! or maybe the SMAW could be used more as an anti-building weapon as it looks more like it..
More like a "medium" AT kit. Yes, AT4s are more common, but that's because they are issued as a round of ammunition, one-each to a few riflemen in a squad. The SMAW is a company-level weapon, operated by men with a full-time MOS (Assaultman), and two-man SMAW teams are attached to the rifle platoons from the weapons platoon of the rifle company. It's not an ATGM, but it has both HEAT and "bunker busting" HEDP rounds, and other rounds have been developed for it.
It is rather unique in the US inventory, because regular Army units do not have a similar weapon in their TO&E. The 75th Ranger Regiment uses the Carl Gustav M3 recoilless rifle in a similar role (company level multi-purpose launcher), with the gunners alternating with the Javelin depending on the mission parameters, but this weapon is not used in the rest of the Army.

I thought they were trying to move toward iron sights for LAT and not scopes? SMAW would then be a step backward.
I loved the Mk12 though, and would love to see it back as a pickup kit on a couple maps.

I think it should be brought back, As a Request kit, No.

I would love both of them as pickup kits, but I don't think that anyhting could replace the m-14.

The Mk14 could. A new case for the M14 that follows Bob_Marley's signature

Link to very large pictorial example.

It had proper noises in v0.4, IIRC. But before that, yes, it did use the suppressed pistol sound.

Well what you could do with the smaw and at4 is when the us army is added an the usmc and us army become seperate factions you could split it between them(1 uses at4 the other smaw) i dont know whether thats realistic can someone confirm?
As for the Mk12 make it a pick up kit.

No, it isn't. Both the Marines and the Army use the AT4. AT4s, designated in US as M136, are issued as a round of ammunition, one-each to a few riflemen in a rifle squad. The Mk-153 SMAW is a company-level weapon exclusive to the Marines and operated by men with a full-time MOS (Assaultman). Two-man SMAW teams are attached as needed to rifle platoons from the weapons platoon of the rifle company. It has both HEAT and "bunker busting" HEDP rounds, and other rounds have been developed for it.
It is rather unique in the US inventory, because regular Army units do not have a similar weapon in their TO&E. The 75th Ranger Regiment uses the Carl Gustav M3 recoilless rifle in a similar role (company level multi-purpose launcher), with the crews alternating between it and the Javelin depending on the mission parameters, but "the Goose" is not used in the rest of the Army.
There is a single-shot, disposable launcher version of the SMAW HEDP round, called SMAW-D, that the Army uses as the M141 Bunker Defeat Munition. Like the AT4, it is issued as a round of ammunition to a few riflemen in each squad, depending on mission parameters.
Until the US Army actually adopts it, the M24A2 name is just a marketing ploy by Remington.
