Sure, i will bring the beer! You bring all the other hardware stuff, nails, wood ext. but i think focus Do It ALL at the moment, has some great deal on those things.

Realistically not too many studios today are doing both a complete engine AND then doing game content on top of it. And when they do, the engine aspects is really intended to be liscenced as it's own stand alone game engine. Licencing fees can get pretty astronomical.
I've not seen a game engine that meets our criterion aside from the ArmA engine (which ain't all that spectacular in many ways).
And look at the economics.. let's say we publish through Steam. And let's say that 10,000 current community members all buy it, plus another 10,000 because we do some sort of ad campaign. And let's say it's $30 USD.
So that's $600,000 gross. Probably 100k in steam costs, and another 200k in engine fees .. down to 300k gross now. Put a 20 person team on that and yer making 15k each or somewhere just below the poverty line in most countries.
At best I think we could make a decent game on top of an existing platform as a hobby that provided a bit of beer money.

If you saved all the money you would spend on beer... You'd be able to license whatever engine you fancy!

PR is too extreme to go main stream, the latest version even more so. Is there a count for number of players playing PR.
It doesnt have its own tab on game monitor, is that because theres no way to offically tag modded bf2 servers I guess.
I have noticed the number of servers I get returned from doing a 'PR' search has gone up, but thats not exactly accurate.
I think its a great game and unique in lots of ways but the only way it'll go mainstream is if EA nick stuff for their next project and hopefully pay some dues!
Not if get Mad because someone didn't hear you

my bad, theres 125 PR servers apparently
http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php? ... ruleval=pr
Though it appears they have fallen in number by roughly 5% over the last month

If PR went full-blown, I would stop caring when Quake Wars and Frontlines comes out.
