What does "Fichier non trouvé" mean? Is that french for "Piss off moron" ?
I swear... There is something rotten in the state of Den... Swedish Westcoast...

I assume I have to create an all new account with gamespy for this?
That's what I 'm off to do now...

Nope!
creating a new account is totally not neccesary.

Started up the ABR client and BF2 Couldn't join any server through the client. In fact all i get is the french error message stated in my previous post. So I joined the server via IP.
Had a nice round with 3 other people.
Took me all of 5 minutes to get the Basic Air Defense badge...

Now, where do I see that badge?
Am I correct when I assume it's supposed to be in the ingame BFHQ window?

Just thought of something.... I've renamed my BF2.exe since it's supposed to help improve performance...
Guess I have to re rename it.... :p

Well, that was one problem solved... Now, is there any way I can get the ABR client to look for the "right" file? My renamed BF2.exe I mean?

Well, First successfull badge earned... and it shows up nicely.
Satcom, you and your team has done a good job with the ABR!
What I don't really understand is what really is different from vanilla BF2 ranking and the ABR?

What is the fundamental difference? It being mod compatible is not the answer I'm looking for. :p

lol! whoever gave you that weird idea?
next step is renaming svchost.exe to something else to improve windows performance?
- just kidding

Fundamental differences:

Multiple Ranked Worlds
Each World, is completely definable, Medals criteria, rank criteria, all to be set by the World Administrator.

so, EA controls the official rankings & criteria, with ABR, each world owner has the same control as EA over rankings of that world.

for instance :

World A - wants all unlocks unlocked.
World B wants unlocks to be earned.
World C wants to give unlocks manually.

Each world has own stats, etc etc.
So, if you wanna do a tournament, just create a tournament world, play your tournament, and close down the world afterwards.

And as stated before, each mod can have its own medals & criteria inside BF2
You can see your stats in bfHQ or thru the web on bf2scripts.com, or with the Scripts we provide to get information from YOUR world, on YOUR website
:)

so, what can i say?

One other MAJOR difference is, that on the 22th, you can play in the EA Ranks, but there wont be a possibility to see your stats/ranks for the Special Forces mod only.
and with ABR, there is. ;)

again one step ahead of EA !

More questions??

I got tons of questions... But you took care of the big one! ;)
As I said in my PM to you; Great work guys! Kudos to you and the whole ABR team ffor making this happen!

(ahem... Might add that this is MY personal opinion and not necessarily the whole PR teams' opinion. They will have to answer for themselves! :p )

I wonder if PR will be able to utilize this to create thier own ranking system?

Has this been discussed at all Blake?

How the hell should I know? I've only been promoted for a few hours mpst of which I've used to get used to the fact that I got my name in blue... :D

Anyway, the ABR is not tied to the mod per se. It is the server that decides wether it want to have a ranking system or not. So you can play PRMM.02 on one server that does not have a ranks then you can switch to a server that does and it will keep track of your points ON THAT server. I believe there is a global database involved too keeping track of your stats...

Go and visit the ABR site for more info and download the client.

Ok, copy that.

lol, I dunno man, i just figured since you had been messing around with it they might have said somethin to you about it?

Ok, so, we just need someone to come up with a good ranking system and start up a server running PRmm!

Frankly, the ABR is that system. All we need is someone who is running a PRMM server to add ABR to it.

Excelent news! When and where can we try it? Will it be avaiable for general use, that is if someone is running a Battlefield server, can they download it and easily install it with their own configuration?

You can try it right now on the GloryHoundz server ;)

For comfortable usage, you need to wait for the ABR Client to get released.

In the meantime, if you feel adventurous, and you want to see your stats in BFHQ, you need to edit your hosts file as follows:
To the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts, you need to add the following line:
193.43.92.202 bf2web.gamespy.com

You'll want to remove that once the ABR Client comes out and let it handle that.

: / .

Don't you guys think personal stats and such will detract from teamwork and the focus on getting the TEAM to win instead of making yourself look better? For example, a medic insisting on reviving everyone regardless of the danger they put themselves in. Or people going into a black hawk and not covering the sought after flags, but instead, going around and mowing people down just for the sake of killing and not winning the game as a team.

I agree that this could be a problem Armand and it's something we have to be very careful about. Luckily with ABR we are able to alter all the requirements for ranks/awards etc. It hasn't been decided exactly how this is going to work yet but I can assure you that we will be rewarding teamwork far more than personal success.

Actually I would see this as a incentive to work as a team. I dont know anyone who can rambo around in prmm. It is just too easy to die.
