Most vehicles now have a tiny entry point. As other posters have said - if you and five squadmates can leap off a building under fire and all land on the hatch/door/pickup bed of a nearby tank, truck or whatever, I'll happily applaud you in-game rather than sigh because the sitting ducks have flown.
Personally I've only done it a few times (far more often when I played vBF2), and while it is a little uh, gamey, what the hell it's fun. If you're talking realism I should be able to climb down from any reasonable height if need rather than be forced to jump
