I'm probably completely wrong but I read somewhere or was told by someone that XP can only use up to 2gig of ram, you can have more but windows won't use it. Is that right anyone?

I have another question, every after round, each map load seems to get slower and slower.

I thought XP could use 3g but ...
I have never noticed an increase in load time.
But then I usually get up between maps so I'm not timing it.

32-bit operating systems can handle only 4GB of memory, including Video memory. 3.5GB is realistically the maximum for 32-bit XP or Vista. 64-bit operating systems don't have this problem.

I believe that you, the client, have data which it is verifying ;-)

I would assume it is checking certain files to be sure they are not altered, that they exist as to check your CD serial # is valid.

One thing to note with your ram configuration 2 sticks are usually better as the ram timming changes from 1T to 2T when you have more then 2 sticks. This can slow things down a bit. However I know that in BF1942 going from less ram in 1T to more ram in 2T gave me better FPS so in the end if you can only get to 2GB of ram by using the 2T timmings do it.
