It's a private mod that me and my friend made for personal fun, I can't tell you. Besides that it's not perfected or even perfect.

it could be possible if u have it where the black/sea hawk unleashes a grappling hook and you double tap e and fast rope down...

Unfortunately my friend has a say in this and he wants to keep it between us so I have to respect his wish. I'd much rather have a lot of ranting people at my front door with AK-47s and SPAS 12 shotguns than having to raise a conspiracy.

Other than that lets just leave entire fast roping concept as theoretical and within the BF2 hard coded limits.

You're full of bullsh1t and you know it, you're a attnetion whore, just like me.

Aiming to be the number one sniper in the Battlefield 2 ranks
tsk tsk.

and for the grappling hook? only works on statics not vehicles.

WTF is this topic about anyway, mortars or F4ztr0p3z!?

Yes, we tried, before you were born. ;)

Throwing a grappling hook onto a chopper only partially works. If the helo moves even the slightest in any direction, the grappling hook will sometimes fall to the ground.

Battlefield 2 must have been out a very long time, eh Vikingo?

Course, the easy way to implement them is to just set the entrance/exit points on the blackhawk to include 20m below the chopper. Ignore the need for any visual representation of the actual rope, then have people leaping in and out of the damn birds when they're sixty foot up.

Or of course, the damn blackhawk pilots out there who haven't learnt how to *land* could go and practice some more on an offline server and then the whole stupid fastroping thing could be put to rest forever. Oh the amazing invention of wheels on the underside of a helicopter that allow it to leave the air behind and touch down on the firm ground- safely allowing passengers to get in and out without pratting around on a rope! Will miracles of modern aviation never cease?!

Having mortar teams in PR would be great! Having 1 in your side could really help alot since range on atleast light 1s i was messing with in army had 5~km fairly accurate range, if i dont remember too incorrectly. Just make it so realistic that you actually need full 3 members to carry, deploy and operate it so that you actually haveto train to use it. ;) Something to impress newbs with when using 1 accurately after alot of training.

What about heavy-mortars that are pulled with trucks or simply tagged on floor of bigger fortresses? Atleast finnish army has vehicles that are armed with 120mm heavy grenade launchers that are fast deployed and offer fire support to over 10 km accurately.

Wish i knew better about foreigner mortars since finnish army ones can differ from them quiet a lot, so gotta just wait, see and trust that you guys do great job with it as you have done so far! Mortar teams would just give 1 extra reason to waste my time into playing. Balance issues can be fixed by the fact how hard mortar is to be used in RL. Its not enough that you need cordinates, hell, you gotta still calculate alot of things before you know how the damn thing should be aimed!

Yep, im exited about the idea, no argument. Should probaply post this to suggestion forums, but 1 time doesnt hurt anyone now does it?

edit: ye im not expecting this to hapen soon :D

Behind every PR topic lies the F4ztr0p3z, lurking and waiting to pounce. Always assume that a thread will end up talking about the "F" word, it's enevitable.

I don't think the 120mm mortars will happen, I think it will be more the human portable type. But it would be nice to have some big mortars at base that could be manned. Problem with that is that people will learn the maps and know exactly were to point the mortar for the different flags or enemy main base. This happened in FH sometimes and DC with the scud.
