I do realize if made realistically to a T that it would completely wipe out anything on a map anywhere due to its destructive power and range. However, if only one was available per map, and only available on the largest of maps I still do see a benefit.
I would prefer to see something such as a MLRS system instead of mortars or Howitzers because with those weapons you have to fire twice as many rounds as a MLRS rocket (weather it be a 644 M77, ER rocket, RRRR rocket, or the XM30 rocket) to get the same effect. So by using a MLRS, you would require less rounds to be fired to have the same effect (which would be a good thing considering the MLRS only holds a maximum of 12 rockets, or 2 guided missiles.
Now in response to the posts made by OUTLAWZ and [R-DEV]Jaymz, and in relation to the first paragraph of this post considering destructive power. Last night while playing (and this happens all the time) I was killed almost a dozen times by an A10. Now that to me is unrealistic. Yes, I do realize the history of the Warthog, and how awesome it truly performs; however, for a game such as this, I believe aircraft, even on a huge map as this, to be way overkill. It takes but two or three well placed shots by a pilot of any aircraft to take out a tank. Now, the problem with that is these aircraft can take out viable assets to the team before they even get but one grid square from the home base, which becomes very very annoying. I was rolling out in a convey of 2 tanks, one APC and one AA vehicle. In just a few shots both tanks were down. After circling around, the A10 took out the APC before biting the dust from the AA vehicle. I highly doubt an aircraft vehicle would constantly be used to destroy targets at such close range to friendly and enemy bases.
I believe the MLRS to be a better solution than further development of aircraft because:
1) A MLRS would be slower to use than an aircraft vehicle, thus allowing enemy forces to take up position at a flag capture.
2) A MLRS would be much more difficult to use, thus allowing the enemy a better chance of survival
3) A MLRS is not going to be able to kill and destroy enemy vehicles while they are on the move (example, people won't die trying to get out of their own base)
But just my ideas and thoughts. I realize many do and many do not like the idea.
