A training session for an hour or two would teach people the basics and what it's like on a regular server
Right. Like setting a rally point. Make sure you have enough people and don't set it someplace where it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I've seen new players to PR that are quite accomplished BF2, but just don't know all the in's and out's. I've been on servers where they are treated with little or no respect just because they ask how or where to request a kit. Now I know what you going to say RTFM! While I agree with that there is still much value in somebody showing you around so to speak.

I'm definately putting my name down as a trainer!

I hope you all find this idea appealing...if not I'm ready for you!!!
Last night I logged on for the very first time... I had NOT looked at the manual b/c I wanted to play which is the general concept behind a game. I wanted to see if it was worth the huge d/l, and the hype.

Guess who I found on the server, non other than Sun Tzu, guess who was kind enough to help me? Thats right...Sun Tzu, he walked myself and at least 4-5 others through various processes. I APPRECIATED IT VERY MUCH, AND FOUND THE CONCEPT OF TRUE TEAMWORK VERY VERY INTRIGUING. Unlike BF2, there were no retards tking for a jet, b/c they couldn't get in one w/o kit, and no running around like headless chickens doing little to serve the objectives.

So I for one, support this idea, especially as a means to really building a cohesive team, for example, say as a server/trainer develops members, if they like them and see their skills develop, they could become members of permanent squads....and clans. They would train on a regular basis and become gods on the battle field.

So guess what? With sun Tzu's kind help and assistance, I will go back for more, here's hoping I can find him on a server again as I forgot the name of the one we were on last nite.

oh and BTW after I logged out, I printed the guide and read it before bed, so now I have trained and now I have studied and now I am going to kill you. http://www.killerclips.com/clip.php?id=82&qid=811

Um. If these noobs read the guide that comes with the install, then they'll be fine.

At this point, I'm so fed up with idiots who can't even do that that im not going to play for a few days, because 40% of the players are retarded now.

I think just taking in a few guys under your wing as a squadie is best really. Its not just the mechanics of the game that people need to know. More importantly is the way the game should be played...how to stay down, work with squad...listen to orders, get the right kits...and how to properly engage targets as a squad. These are all things we can and are teaching guys in-game...at least I hope so. I was working with a noob from vanilla...he was 3 star general but really having tough time in PR, was confused by stuff. I had him follow me around, helped him use the kits...talked about not driving vehicles, building stuff and we started killing people. In the end he was totally productive and worked his way into the game. Once they experience the teamwork and how to play well...thats what they will be striving for and in the end, become good teammates.

btw...first 2 days was BAD...after that gameplay has been pretty decent in pubs. I usually find a good enough squad to work with and it hasn't been that bad.

Fess up, do you mean to tell me that you d/l the mod.... installed it and then put yer nerd glasses on and read a manual for 15-20 mins and didn't once, not once play a map either by yourself or on multiplayer? If you did, well then son, I said son, you are just not normal.....most people really want to see the present under the wrapping paper, rather than the manual that comes with the product....let me guess you probably print out and read EULA agreements to their full extent, sign them on the bottom before clicking the radio button at the bottom of the page agreeing to the content.

The guide can't compete with a dedicated person trying to help others but I generally recommend at least looking at some of the very basics before playing to spare the helpful guys the pain of answering the same questions over and over again. I guess after reading the 60second primer most players should be ok for training online. After getting some experience from another player who helps them the guide is the ideal way to build upon that. But of course reading the guide while downloading would be the best use of time...

It should be available separately from the DL page I think.

If the Project Reality Essentials PDF automatically came up after the install was complete I think more people would look at it more closely. Right now it's justa desktop icon that got all mixed in with all my other ones.
