If that was ever to happen in PR, I would be the first and only GI that managed to get my own fastrope tangled in the rotors and accidentally TK'n everybody inside of it. I vote no.ArmedDrunk&Angry wrote:I think even if you could get it to work AND the rotors had a collision mesh

The list of good military movies is surprisingly short.
BHD, BoB, SPR, and that's about it.
What about Patton that won alot of awards.

yea fastroping in bf2 is just asking for an rpger to shoot you down. theirs always someone with an rpg or law trying to hit something, and a hovering helicopter would be so easy to hit, however doing fastroping into an area were the enemy might not be would work. say for instance you wanted to land your troops in a forested area behind a base were a helicpoter couldnt easily touch down, fastroping would be usefull. but i doubt that fastroping would ever be possible with bf2's strict engine. so the idea is completely useless.El_Vikingo wrote:Just land on a roof with ladders. OK, I should change my modifier to "good *combat* military movies".El_Vikingo wrote:Jarhead?!
And while FMJ was good, IIRC, there was only combat in one part. Where they're looking for the sniper.
Platoon was good but the combat wasn't realistic. We Were Soldiers was good but it didn't really follow a single group of infantry long enough for any real tactical immersion to take place for the audience.

Immediate loss of points for failing to mention Bridge too Far and The Longest Day. In addition to several others.
We Were Soldiers fails big time. It grossly miss represents the battle. And misses out an entire battalion that took part in the battle, not to mention the devestating ambush the VC/NVA launched while said battalion was en route to LZ Albanay

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

If I wasn't talking about fairly recent movies, I would have had to add a lot to that list.Bob_Marley wrote:Immediate loss of points for failing to mention Bridge too Far and The Longest Day. In addition to several others.
The Story of GI Joe, Ulzana's Raid, and Battleground come to mind.

Agreed, you can't rely on it for military facts, but still a good show nonetheless.'[R-CON wrote:Agent Johnson']yea over there is complete bs. most of the things that you would see in it were completely wrong.

To whomever mentioned Jarhead and Over There, I have just this to say;
stfu.
The first for being a self-rightous smacktard fest about 'omg we had it sooooooo hard' whiny cry baby piece of ****. And for the second one, oh god, don't even get me started on that pile of ****. It's literally an insult to anyone in uniform that's been 'Over There'

Wasteland, theres a couple of combat scenes in FMJ. There's the firefight at the airbase at the beginning of Tet, a couple of smaller firefights in Hue including the one where the tank is blasting away at the front of a building, and the big sniper scene. Besides, you said military movies, not war movies.
Such is life.
