I dislike the idea of a radius very much. When playing SL I often send out two men to sweep the area for enemies and RPs. A radius will hinder this. A SL should kick players who do not play with the squad from the squad if they are a teamplaying squad. Usually servers have 4 kinds of squads.

-A teamwork or VOIP squad where strict discipline is employed from the SL and there is a lot of communication. This is the kind of squad I try to run.

-A Regular squad where an SL will set objectives but not pay too much attention to squad members locations or actions.

-A clan squad that is made up of people who regularly play together. This kind is sometimes locked and may use a different communication program.

-A leaderless squad where the SL does not even know he is SL some times and does not care if he is. Everyone does their own thing. Sometimes people leave and rejoin to get the commanders voice out of their head.

I know that you want to remove some of these squad types but face it, there are not enough squad leaders to go around at the moment so leaderless squads are bound to occur.

I suggest to make a definition for types of squads, so squadleaders can name like that and squadmembers know which squad to join.

Name: Teamwork
Squadleader want to comand, so if u need leadership join that squad.

Name: RP (ralley point)

Squad is to set a ralley point and use limited infantry kits(grenadier, marksman, support, HAT, LAT) , mostly to stay as long in battle as possible, the range of teamwork after RP depends on every member.

Squad for players dont understand each other or dont want play as one other player wants from them, but also infantry.

Name: L-kits (limited kits)

Squad to get limited kits, maybe for armor or pilots, snipers and so on. Players that dont need a ralley point or to storm flags together.

Squadleader of this squad no need officer kit.

Why not name squad more specific as f.Ex. "armor", because there are maybe not enough tanks/apcs for everyone, or "sniper" they are only 2 sniperkits, so L-Kits would be good for all special roles.

Squad for players with special roles.

By this every player would know which squad he should join.

No I think manual kicking (eg. snipers from the tank squads) will do lol.
We wouldn't want to restrict attack or defense options too much.

I prefer naming squads according to what role they will be playing on the battlefield for that round:

INF = infantry, on the ground, using all avaliable limited kits (except sniper)
ARMOR = tank squad
APC = APC squad primarily supporting the infantry and transporting infantry, it should NOT be used as a lone assault vehicle.
SUPPORT = engineer squad supporting the commander or friendly vehicles with a support vehicle
PILOT = all pilots into a squad to provide mutual air support
SNIPER = for long range infantry support

etc
