I was looking through the binos at the tank, he turned around and started spraying his MG at me. I saw the tracers fly towards me. Bosco should know what I mean.

You get the same thing when zoomed in a tank, it all goes movie slow mo but it sort of fits if you are firing on people miles away. Im not a fan of the tracers often because they are like flares giving you away.
Especially bad are the blackhawk miniguns which passengers love to guide the enemy into a LZ with. Then they spend about a minute getting out like aunty doris off the bus, hopefully lending
akbar and his rocket enough time to line us all up
Ideally we'd have a fuse on the tracers so they only lit up after 200m

It has took me some time to post what I thought about the tracers being used for almost every weapon in PR. If anyone is a military buff or a firearms or ammunition collector will find that the tracers are only found in most support or heavy machine guns for seeing where the shots are going. Regular infantry do not use tracers in their rifles because it can give away your position as it does in the game right now. It is too easy to spot the opposition. In most cases with the heavy weapons it is usually 4 to 1 meaning 4 rounds of regular ball to 1 round of tracer linked in that order. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think doing away with the star wars type tracers would be more realistic and make the game more challenging. I get very discouraged when I work hard to get to a good hiding place and the tracers from my regular rifle give me away on the first shot. My suggestion is no more tracers except in support or heavy weapons and space them out correctly as they should be and not on every shot. Also tone them down during the day maps because they usually aren't that bright unless its dawn or dusk. This is just my 2 cents.

Tracers are to avoid friendly fire, not home in on your enemies. Get a bigger monitor and better sound system.

You hardly see tracers IRL during day fights...if at all. IMO its already way easier to find a bad guy in PR than it is in real life due to the graphics of soldiers and lack of undergrowth....plus no one can peek in PR, and theres no RL sound echos/reflection. So I think they should be toned down a lot as they aren't realistic and serve no purpose as a "metaphor" or anything else. What it does is, discourage RL tactics of suppressive mass fire....there is already little effect for suppression, the last thing we need to do is PUNISH people for firing lots of rounds, by giving away their position in a vastly unrealistic fashion. In night maps...fine, I just want the realistism to have precendence here as I dont see the need for tracers.

And you have military experience I take it? Because when I used tracers in daylight they were very much visible, and no, I did not use an MG I had an assault-rifle. And tracers can be very common when using and assault rifle, they are very extremely good for directing your squads fire if you are a squadleader.

Tracers are used in all weapons. I stacked 3 high, 3 low, and every 5. That means the first 3 were tracer, to mark a target EVEN IN DAYTIME, then every other 5th round, and the final 3 were to let me know when I needed to change mags as I was just about out of ammo. That's not SOP for all units, but its smart and most guys I know use a similar setup.

the first 3 rounds in my mag are tracer then every 5th round is a tracer then my last 3 are tracers. tttbbbbtbbbbtbbbbtbbbbtbbbbttt this is how my mag would be not rocket science to work out what the letters meen. and im a rifleman

Neither, that's just the minigun that's on the littlebird and blackhawk.

[font="]I see the same thing all the time. That is the messed up part. You should NOT see a tracer round flying at you, but only once it passes. A tracer bullet is a regular bullet with a cavity made into the back of it. That cavity is filled with a type of Phosphor powder. When the bullet is fired the powder is ignited, but it does not burn. It glows and smolders like the lit end of a cigarette, the air passing by the bullet makes it glow brighter. The same as if you blew on the lit cigarette. Only if you are at an angle 90% or more of the bullet when it goes by should you be able to see the glowing element inside the back of the bullet. Seeing tracer rounds flying straight at you is not realistic, but once it passes you should be able to see it if you are looking in the direction the bullet it traveling. This may be an issue where the game engine is limited, I'm not sure on the engine part.
