that actually has the flags all lined in a horrible linear fashion. This means no defending multiple points, no balanced offense, no large scale strategy, just everyone rushing to the frontline. It's made worse by the sand storm that often reduces everything to a giant, teamkilling, grenade-spamming, clusterf*ck. I have yet to have a good round on this map. It might not bother me so much but it seems like this map is ALWAYS in rotation on every server. Sometimes played twice.

I completely forgot about Helmand! That is another one that needs the boot for sure.
Sure I like destructible buildings and all that (who doesnt?) but otherwise its a tiny, badly laid out map with no cover other then the buildings. Maybe if its size was increased 10x.

About Ghost Train, I always knew the bridges were there but unless i'm crazy isn't that recon post CP new? Anyways i'll give it another crack.

Regarding Al Basrah, I suppose i would get sick of it too if I played as much as you say Longbow, but i've yet to get more then 3 or 4 rounds since 0.6. Great map though!

I've only played Raid on Moskiye once since 0.6, and its a very pretty map, but it seems like its a placeholder for something. Another game mode perhaps? I hate to see such lovely landscape go to waste. :)

As for Kufrah its right on the edge of being on my list. Its new so I thought i should give it more of a chance, but the base raping that inevitably happens every single round has got to go. The main bases need to be more protected or farther away from the rest of the CPs, and there simply HAS to be another CP to go with each of the first ones out of the mains. It really really sucks only to be able to attack one CP that the enemy is all over. Could use a bit more cover for Infantry too. Maybe move that sweet village into the middle of the map?

Have yet to try Bi Ming with 0.6. Tried it once in the beta and that was enough for me. I will give it another chance before it makes the list though.

Also, are Street and Hills of Hamyong still in 0.6? I thought they ditched those a while ago.

I'm a big fan of revising Helmand Province, just because I think that if the British have a half-decent commander who can build assets, the balance tips heavily in favor of the British and the insurgents are totally screwed (in my experience, anyway). I know the map was made without commander assets in mind, and it's not that big a map, so an easy fix would be to do what you did with Raid on Moskiye and not allow the commander to build assets. The map always sorta favored the British anyway (with their ability to engage at longer distances), but at least the insurgents will have a fighting chance this way.

Nah HoH is still in for some reason; it's USMC v PLA now. For some reason GB easily out did USMC -- I don't know why as USMC has zoom and fires the same round as the SA80.

hemland would'nt be a huge deal to make bigger..... Cut n' paste whats there in a larger heightmap, then group all the statics in a bundle and place them strategically in the same spots, import colour maps and other .con files and tada, 1/3 the work would be done.... hypothetically, speaking that is....

I actually like hills of h. i hear there are some changes to be made (more tickets to us, weaker chinese, etc.) which should make it a lot better.
i hardly ever play raid on moskiye, but i'm not a big fan of it.
helmand is a cool, unique little map, but it could have some changes. more vehicles for brits and make it bigger. add a city or something to it.
bi ming...ehhh don't really play it a whole lot, but I think its pretty cool. Its a cool kind of Brit version of mao valley.
al kufra- never played it, but tried it local and didn't really like the layout.
al basrah- great map, terrible gameplay. most of the time, the brits are so worriedabout keeping insurgents from capturing their checkpoint flag and somehow keeping their 200 tickets that they don't even look for the ammo. insurgents have a hard time getting around outside the city, they can walk long distances or get blown up in a techie. It needs to go back to conquest mode with about 4-6 flags inside the city. the ammo crates are just way too damn hard to find. even when you are an insurgent.

the problem with hills of hamyong too is that its like the usmc using pla tactics- waves of assault onto a heavily defended, technologically fortified position. there needs to be more shrubery, more grass, more cover and concealment.

I couldn't disagree more, I don't know how you play the game but when you have a a competent squad swooping through the city you will find ammo dumps, just the other day when playing albashra our squad found 4 ammo dumbs just by roaming through the city, no markers on the ammo dumbs.

Insurgency mod is by far the best game mode, you have every chance to be creative in your tactics and not be tight down by some dictated rules/flags.
Insurgency mod in my opinion is so beyond anything else I've ever seen in any shoot em up game the freedom you get can only be compared more to a mmorpg than a linear capture the flag style of game.

I really compare high end PR games to RTS's more.

I agree about Ejod. I dislike it because the map's geography funnels the infantry into the city while the armor is sitting up on the hill taking pot shots at it. I think Ejod's layout is out dated and simplistic. The 2 sides start North and South then rush as deep into the city as possible while a few other squads slowly cap their way up to the city. The flag layout is completely symmetrical.Up to East and West city the sides advance taking the flags one by one. Also, as mentioned before in this thread, having just one CP before the Main Base is really detrimental to gameplay, primarily because it's the last nail in the enemy's coffin. There should be 2 if not 3 CP before the main base, otherwise the side stuck there will inevitably get base raped since they can't take the flag back. This problem is also present in Al Kufrah.
As for Ghost Train, it just needs a few more flat clearings here and there, make use of all that space nobody ever goes through.
I also have something against Hills of Hamyong. The beginning reminds me of Omaha Beach for some reason. Personally, I wouldn't attack a heavily fortified position from just one side. Although my problem with it is only concerning the look of it since the bunkers seem to fall fairly quick for some reason and I like the way Brits would assault the inner bunker complex. Haven't played it in 0.6 though so I may be wrong.
