Hellfires can hit at 8 Km. Right now its at about 0.5Km. And a chopper is a much more stable firing platform than a tank; air is smooth so theres no rocks or hills to bounce off. The Guns of course won't hit anything, but the TV missiles will. Who needs guns?

It is a little further than 0.5km... You can see approximately 0.5km but the missiles themselves can travel something like 1.5 to 3km. A chopper is more stable than a moving tank but you are still pressed to accurately hit, while zoomed, anything with the cannon like in the tank when it is moving while zoomed.

well with the zoom added to the helos gunner it will mean that the poilt needs to work with the guner and not just fly around fireing at people him self but acting as an firing platform. and as for the missels i thin that the TV guided thing just dont feel right i alweys remember seeing the missels being fired from and helo looking like the laserguided from the the M15 on Vbf2. and the air to ground missels using the TV guided. if you think about it if your in a jet you moving fast so you cant realy see aroung trying to keep and laser on a target in an hot zone but more like firing a tv guided at your target and get your self out of there and have the missesl guided in that way. but the helo is abl to get and the targets in line of sight and guide the missel right in. and also i saw somone was saying that the missels would need and zoom to this laser guide over TV guided would work better if you were using the zoom

PEOPLE JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO USE CHOPPERS PROPERLY
if i had a dollar for every time someones flown into tank combat in a chopper.
You gotta use Kashans hills to hide behind, pop up fire a missile, relocate. Find a buddy or someone whos a good gunner and you'll hurt the vehicles more than an A10. With me flying n mate gunning its pretty easy to destroy every piece of armor on the map and any other spawns

I suggest realistic jet camera zoom too, especially for recon.

And we will end up getting rid of the uberl33t snipers to be replaced by uberl33t heli gunners.

I agree thet IRL engagement ranges are huge but at the end of the day this game needs to be playable. Start putting in more things like this and most systems will not be able to keep up, in the end you will kill the mod by requiring bigger and better systems that most people cannot afford.

I think this is a good idea for a greater view distance without the performance hit.

After watching that video, i can see what you mean, but the chopper is pretty low as it is. its at about 800 feet. and thats not high at all. i think in that respect its very realistic.

Heres a question, in relation to steadying the gun. is it possible for the gun to lock onto viewing a certain part of the ground and trace it as the chopper moves...WHILE, also giving the ability to move the direction of the gun in relation to the locked direction?

We all know that tracking a enemy is no problem in bf2... hacks...

However its not possible the legal way. The only thing can be done is stabilization but not 100% correct.

turnpipe, what exactly do all those lines of code do? increase the viewdistance for specific vehicles?

and yeah psykogundam, as we all unfortunately know, aimbots snaptogrid on xyz values of the playermodels, so I assume they could to xyz mapvalues aswell.
the crosshair would remain on these xyz untill you either readjust to new values or you could make this snaptogrid happen per right click or so.
I personally wouldnt see the problem with implenting this. after all the shadereffects are just as exploitable, from what Ive heard quite easily.
but I assume altering the aimbotcode "back" to actually aim and track playermodels and vehicles would be a bit more complex.

with the current zoom level there is no need for further zoom, as there is already enough to see to the current view distances,

you know, Im not really saying anything, but isnt "legal" in the end whats implemented and allowed by the game? the "hack" would be internalized and wouldnt give an advantage because its for all to use in that particular assett like tank or helo. the game itself would provide this lock on system, for the cause of wanted realism.
and second it is coded to not interfere with punkbuster.
just my stoned 2 blunts.

I would really like to see a build in tracking option for tanks and choppers. That would bring tanking and gunning to a hole new level. Of course it would take less skill witch is a - point...

It puts a single zoom on the nose camera of the jet.

Just like tanks have now.


It cuts right through the fog giving a increased view distence.

Edit: Wile fooling around with the tweak file some more.

I got free mouse look to work!
I disabled toggle mouse look.

ObjectTemplate.toggleMouseLook 0

Now if only the **** pit had a sight texture.

Well the stabilization you see on tanks ect are not 100% working. So they would not work 100% on the helo gunner too.. Other then that ive no idea why there isn't stabilization.

But better a not 100 % working stabilisation, then no one...

And the zoom is ok imo. If you can zoom more in, you cant hit a shit...(without stabilisation)
