The L85A2 shows that it's not the 5.56mm round that's ****, it's the gun. I'm sure that GB would be less wtfpwned by the MEC in an open map than say, the US. I can't wait until the recoil/scope is sorted out for the Rifleman M16A4. I believe the 5.56mm round isn't useless.
If some people think it is, perhaps exxagerate the recoil. That is, increase the 7.62 recoil and decrease the 5.56 one to compensate. Then people will realise the difference, I mean the 7.62 will still be balistically better, but if there was a proper noticeable difference in recoil, then both could be used to their strengths.
Talk about going off at a tangent here but there you go.

How taxing would a Basrah Night map be? A large FPS drop?

i think he meant a map on the out side of albasrah, so a little like al kufrah oil field but with more villages dotted about.

That would be a very good idea maybe the battlefield would take place on the other side of that bridge that spreads out west from the oil tanks. OR maybe the plot could be not before BUT AFTER
when the british had finally cleared Al Basrah from the insurgents MEC had come back with an invasion force to take it back from the americans only to find the small british task force. so with an 3-to-1 odds attacked the british force and after 2 weeks of brave, relentless fighting reinforcements had finally arrived in force and now the british have began their counter attack at dawn to capture the MEC base settled in the massive oil field outside the city. pilots are advised to use the oil rigs as giant flares
right then (reads over) erm it seems I might have just gave away the story

ops: sweet then hope to see results

PLA =/= GB - how did you decide to necro a year-old topic without even noticing that the title didn't address the PLA at all?
Moving on, I agree that more battles between different factions (PLA vs. MEC, PLA vs. Insurgents, US vs. GB, Militia vs. PLA, etc.) would be a great addition to PR, but reviving ancient topics that don't even match the topic the poster is hoping to address wouldn't be.

I think a MEC v Insurgents would be interesting and realistic as just because they are a middle eastern coalition, doesn't mean they are terrorists...

The sad truth is that DICE, as well as some of the map descriptions in PR, treat the MEC as terrorists, or at least proponents of terrorism. Actually, the MEC would be a secular fighting force - which would have a good chance of pissing off Islamic radicals and leading to insurgency.
Good idea, TheScot - never thought of that.
