I got a question, Is it true that a USMC Sharpshooter carries around a m16 aswell as his sniper on his back? (Refrenced from Jarhead, I know its hollywood but still just wondering)

I think this is one of those things that'll be forgotten for gameplay sake. It wouldn't be fair to give a squad leader a side arm and nobody else one for example, or just certain classes. It'd just tip the balance and make most people pick the kits and so on that have the side arm for the extra firepower (well, the "oh **** i'm out of ammo lets switch fast so I dont die" thing).

EDIT:

The sniper thingy. It's probably quite possible, considering they have to move into position and so on, so I'd guess when support isn't too far away (ie other units and vehicles and logistics and the like) they'd probably at least carry a carbine untill they've set up shop, or if someone sneaks up behind them so they don't have to swing their heavy rifle around and lose where it's aimed. It may be down more to personal preferance than pre-designated gear load out though.

I have only seen an authentic photo of it once, and I don't know how common a practice it is. According to standard table of organization and equipment, only an observer in a STA/Scout-Sniper team carries an M16 (sometimes with an M203, sometimes not) for local security. The sniper carries the "hawg" and he and the observer have sidearms. Standard TO&E is what is being represented in Project Reality since it is the standard practice and is most conducive to gameplay.

We have made it clear that not every kit will have a sidearm and have implemented this in the mini-mod. The anti-armor and sniper classes have sidearms, as well as the special ops class. On maps where a special operations unit is represented, every class may have a sidearm.

Ok guys like from all the iraq stuff on the history channel i see. Like out of 1000 men 600 of them have a reg m-16a1 and a2 with out ther gernade launcher. So the m16 the one the medic use should be like in each usmc class.

That doesnt make much sense, since you just said 600/1000 men used the the regular weapon without the nade launcher. That's 40% potential M16/M203 users, so obviously not every USMC class should have just the M16 ;)

And what if the army develops a sort of springs you attach to your boots and an M203 shell that has directed blast with no arming delay?

Complicated...

well, there's also M249's, M60s, AT, sniper rifles, etc etc that'd take up that 40% too. i think he's just trying to get at the fact that 60% of ground troops are armed with your basic M16A2/A4 loadout.

Two or three in each squad, depending on TO&E. One soldier or Marine in each four-man fire team of a rifle squad (2 fire teams + 1 squad leader for Army; 3 fire teams + 1 squad leader for Marines) carries the M203. In the Marines the grenadier is also the fire team leader; the GL can be used as a signaling/fire control device in addition to a weapon. In PRMM the Grenadier kit may be selectable (through the unlock tabs), randomized or a pickup kit to keep the numbers down, but the rifleman will have some useful items too that might make it just as if not more appealing.

Yes, and maybe squad leaders could have an SAMR kit, but with less grenades and ammunition

someone on the first page said "Spec Ops - like rifleman, but not black".... heh... are you a racist? im sure you meant something else i didnt catch, but it was funny to me... well, not funny... sad... but...shit, you know...

I think it would be nice to have the choice of Iron Sights/optics. A lot of threads come up with whether or not one or the other should be used all around... Of course, this would be a very simple change... and im sure other variations would take priority, but it would be nice.
What would be amazing, but prolly impossible to do using BF2s engine would be a custom kit option. Like, the m16 shows up, and in a scroll bar, all the attachments show up... maybe add more deviation/innaccuracy with the added weight (something to that effect) But, it would be nice to add a 203, more mags, scope/optics, and have a set "weight" so you couldnt become an UberSoldier... (something like this was used in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfight... didnt like the game, but liked the customizability...)

Probably cant be done, but it would be nice ehh?
My brothers roomates brother (sisters cousins former roommate... i know...) is in the army (not USMC, i know...) but he sent us a picture of all their M4s and not a single one is the same. Dif colors, foregrips, flashlights, stocks, sights/optics/laser sights... it was ridiculous.... i wish it were possible... in some form or another...

i rambled sorry... its 4am and im still just browsing along the PR world... yay

uh, i dont get it, whats this thread actually about?
making a thousand different kids? because as far as i know there is no way the devs can use the unlock system

yea im with you i figured that this would get shot down pritty quick, but here we are 4 pages later. to stick on whatever topic this is, most of you had different weapons for sniper, automatic rifleman, and AT.... sniper, automatic rifleman, and AT are limited and not on the spawn screen and im quite sure the devs wouldnt put them back on.

A better question is why did you two revive it after it had been dead for months?

How about you leave moderation to the Mods, ey?

We're actually in favour of reasonable necros here at PR. Know why? Because then it stops people from posting endless bloody reposts that we then have to lock, and tell people to search, and then warn everybody who posted "IBTL" and "Suggested before, use search jackass".

So yeah, search necro = better than resuggests/reposts.

So hush and let us do the moderation please. There's been quite a lot of this kind of thing recently, and it's a little bit disheartening. Be nice to others or don't post at all.

Nobody has figured out how to crack the weapon unlock system so that weapon mods can be selected in the spawn menu?
